The Stars of Mamma Mia! Dance Down the Blue Carpet
Mamma Mia! invaded London last night for the world premiere of the movie musical. Meryl Streep proved she’s still got it in her fiery red dress and Loubs, even catching the attention of handsome Piece Brosnan while producer Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson smiled big for the cameras. Amanda Seyfried lit up the night in her little green number, though she sounds even more excited about her Vanity Fair cover than her new film. Pop UK had a chance to see the super fun movie and interview the stars
Jessica Simpson: I’m Sticking to Country Music
Jessica Simpson has gone country ?
“I’m planning on making country [music] for the rest of my life, and I don’t want to go back to that other world,” says Simpson, 27. Her latest foray into the country scene has given Simpson a boost in success and confidence.
After the breakup of Simpson’s marriage to Nick Lachey and a very public flub of Dolly Parton’s “Nine to Five” at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2006 Simpson says she was scared to sing onstage.
“I was going through a heartbreak, and I was scattered and shouldn’t have been on that stage,” she tells the newspaper. “There’s no way to convince anybody that you’re comfortable onstage if you’re not.” But after stepping into the studio to record a country song, she declared: “I’m back!”
Simpson spent the last few days in Nashville attending the CMA Music Festival, where she promoted her new single, “Come On Over.”
Simpson says she has gotten begrudging compliments on the song and has high expectations for her album, due to be released this September. “A lot of people have listened to ‘Come On Over’ and told me, ‘I really wanted to hate it, but I like it,’” she said. ” It is a backhanded compliment, but I’m glad it’s that way and not the other way around,”
Adds the singer: “I take a lot of pride in my talent and in the record I was able to put together. I’m not giving up.”
Angelina Admitted To Hospital… No babies…..Yet
It’s been another morning of rumblings that Angelina Jolie gave birth, but apparently the twins aren’t here yet. According to the hospital’s rep, Angelina has been admitted to a maternity ward in Nice, France, for the final stretch of her pregnancy. Her admittance was expected, and she will most likely stay there to stay under doctor watch until the babies are here, but no word on how long that will be. Of course this means we’ll all be waiting on the edge of our seats to hear more info about the newest additions to the Jolie-Pitt family, so be sure to stay tuned for more news!
Carmen Electra Happy to Work the Engagement Pole
If you pushed the snooze button instead of listening to Ryan Seacrest’s morning show on KIIS-FM, then you probably don’t know that marriage engagements are like stripper poles and that Carmen Electra does not much care for paperwork. (Like they say, the early bird catches the, um, writhing, squirmy bit of information.)
While we had already told you that Carmen is in no rush to marry fiance Rob Patterson, we did not know that her hesitation was due not to the fact that she’d been married twice before but to an aversion to filing.
Confused? Here’s how Carmen tells it…
“I feel like being engaged feels nice, because it is a commitment but there is no paperwork. And, um, I dunno. I feel like we are happy, so why I dunno, there is no reason to push it to the next level when we are content and we are happy the way we are.”
Ryan says he understands, kinda.
Ryan: It is a portable stripper pole. You could really take it down from the ceiling if you had to, but you are still committed enough so you do not fall down.
Carmen: Exactly, exactly.
Ryan: And that is what that is all about.
Carmen: And that is what that is all about.
It is? Maybe we did hit “snooze” after all and just dreamt this whole, surreal thing.
Chace Crawford Hates Stripping?
Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford hates appearing topless on-screen – because he doesn’t want his good looks to divert attention from his acting skills.
The TV hunk, who plays rich kid Nate Archibald in the hit series, hates to undress for the cameras because he doesn’t believe his character would strip off for no reason. And Crawford admits to speaking his mind when TV bosses try and persuade him to get naked.
He tells OK! Magazine, “There was an episode where we were crashed out on the sofa after a big night out and they wanted me to wake up in my boxers, so I argued with them about it. I mean, first of all, who gets wasted with their buddy, and smokes weed and then strips down to their boxers before they pass out on the couch?!”
“No one does that. Why am I naked on my buddy’s couch? It was weird so I fought it.”
Amy Winehouse Released From The Hospital
British singer Amy Winehouse has been discharged from the hospital in London after doctors declared her well enough to go home.
The Back To Black hit-maker was admitted to a London clinic after collapsing at her home earlier last month. She was subsequently diagnosed with traces of deadly lung disease emphysema.
She left the clinic this weekend to perform at a London tribute concert to Nelson Mandela on Friday and at U.K. music festival Glastonbury on Saturday night, returning to the hospital on Sunday. But the troubled star was subsequently released on Monday and will continue treatment at the center as an outpatient.
Her spokesperson tells British newspaper the Daily Express, “Amy did return to hospital after Glastonbury but her doctors recommended she continue treatment as an outpatient. She was allowed to leave for the performances and it was felt that this really went well. As her treatment is coming to a close, it was decided that she should return home.”
And the rep added that the star plans on keeping her forthcoming performing commitments, adding, “The next date for her is the Oxegen festival she’s really looking forward to that. Then there are other dates including Bestival in September. The idea was to book lots of one-off dates that she can enjoy doing this summer. She loves performing.”
No More Hotpants For Kylie Minogue!
Pop superstar Kylie Minogue is determined to grow old gracefully – insisting she won’t be wearing hotpants now she is 40.
The Australian beauty made a triumphant comeback to the music scene when she donned a pair of skimpy gold hotpants in the video for 2000′s Spinning Around, but claims she isn’t keen to maintain her sexy image as she gets older.
However the star, who turned 40 in May, is adamant she still belongs in the spotlight, and would love to perform more jazz-inspired sets.
She tells Britain’s Easy Living magazine, “It’s difficult to age with dignity in the pop business, but I’d like to think I’ve managed it so far. But I won’t be wearing hotpants any more!”
She adds, “A while ago I sang I Should Be So Lucky as a romantic torch song on Later… With Jools Holland (U.K. TV show). Jools accompanied me on the piano, and I can imagine working like that.”
Pharrell Plans Innovative Tattoo Removal

N.E.R.D. star Pharrell is planning on spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a new treatment to remove his many tattoos.
The rapper-turned-producer is sick of the body art he has on his arms and has signed up to undergo a new method of erasing them – which involves scientists growing skin grafts in a lab. Williams insists he doesn’t care how expensive and painful the procedure will be – as long as it gets rid of the tattoos.
He says, “It’s going to be pricey, but f**k it, it’s worth it. I got fire on my arms! I’m a grown man! There’s an institute called the Wake Forest Institute in North Carolina for Regenerative Skin Treatment. It’s basically like getting a skin graft, but you’re not taking skin from your ass or your legs. These guys actually grow the skin for you. First you have to give them a sample of your skin, which they then replicate. Once that’s been done, they sew it on – and it’s seamless.”
But Williams is already plotting replacement tattoos. He adds, “When it has healed you can go get whatever tattoo you want.”
Last-Minute Baby Drama For Jamie Lynn Spears?

New mom Jamie Lynn Spears was in danger of losing her baby and her life in the delivery room, according to a shocking new tabloid report.
The National Enquirer claims doctors were forced to perform a Cesarean section on the teenager after discovering she and her baby daughter were in danger of bleeding to death. The publication reports Spears was diagnosed with marginal placenta previa just before she gave birth to baby Maddie Briann on June 19, and medics weren’t taking any chances.
The condition, where part of the placenta extends to the mother’s cervix, can be fatal.
And insider says, “Jamie Lynn was sick with worry. It was a lot for a 17 year old to handle.”
The emergency took place 10 days before Spears’ actual due date, according to sources.

Oh, no! Lindsay Lohan has ANOTHER sister?
Just what the world needs. Another Lohan.
Seems that Lindsay Lohans father, Michael Lohan, had a daughter with another woman while he was still married to Dina Lohan more than 13 years ago. He says he was estranged from Dina, Lindsays mother, at the time.
Yup, he is using that old “We were on a break” excuse.
Michael Lohan told OK Magazine Years later the woman contacted me, convincing me that I was the only person she was with and that she had my child.
Michael married to Dina from 1985 to 2007 has written letters to the girls mother saying his illegitimate daughter is beginning to look a lot like Linds with a mix of Cody believe it or not.
He also sent a photo of himself to the girl, which he signed Love Daddy.
The girls mom claims that while Michael called his daughter on her 13th birthday in June and has spoken with her on the phone, he has never visited or sent money.
We are shocked, simply shocked!
She told OK It is time for Michael to take responsibility.
She might do better by trying to land her daughter a role in Dina Lohans reality TV show, Living Lohan. It would have to make the show more interesting. And I am sure your daughter is more appealing than her snooty faced, spoiled half sis, Ali Lohan.

Pierce Brosnan Happy To Be Rid Of Bond
Former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan was relieved to finally hand over the 007 franchise to Daniel Craig – because playing the super spy is like making “a pact with the devil.”
The 54-year-old starred as the secret agent in four films, eventually bowing out in 2004. However Brosnan admits that playing the revered character is a major undertaking, as the franchise has such strict rules about conduct, grooming and endorsements. And he was happy to finally shed the responsibility of playing Bond.
He says, “You become an ambassador to a small country. Bond is an industry. You make your pact with the devil. You know that it will follow you. But you just hope you get yourself off the ropes. I have no bitterness but I just feel exhausted by it.”
Heath Ledger’s Hometown To Name Theater After Him
The Australian hometown of the late actor Heath Ledger named a theater in his honor Tuesday for his commitment to acting.
The $87 million, 575-seat Heath Ledger Theater in Perth is a fitting tribute because Ledger was always supportive of other young actors, Western Australia state Premier Alan Carpenter said at a naming ceremony.
Ledger died at 28 of an accidental prescription drug overdose in New York in January.
“Heath Ledger was totally dedicated to the craft of being an actor and that’s what made him successful,” Carpenter said. “I think what we’re doing is continuing that support for young people who want to make a career in the arts and acting, stage and in film, whatever it happens to be.”
Kim Ledger, the actor’s father, called the tribute a pleasant surprise.
“He was such a giver to the arts right across the board. I really feel that there’s not a lot of things he’d put his name to, but he’d put his name to that,” said Kim Ledger, who attended Tuesday’s ceremony.
Kim Ledger said family members would travel to New York later this month to attend a screening of “The Dark Knight.” Heath Ledger plays the Joker in the movie, his final full film role. The actor’s performance has already been lauded by critics.
The renewed attention on his son because of the film has made the family’s grieving process difficult, Ledger said.
“It’s just been a little more public and the films make it a little more public as well,” he said. “It’s been a little bit hard, but we’ve always been extremely proud of his work and that hasn’t changed.
Jan Adams in Court.. Pleads NOT GUILTY
After being charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI, Dr. Jan Adams appeared in court today to plead not guilty to the charges. Cops say Adams’ blood alcohol was above .15 — nearly twice the legal limit — when they found him driving the wrong way on the freeway. Dr. Adams — or just Jan since his medical license was just pulled — operated on Kanye West’s mother right before she died.
