At the Twain (ceremony) they’ll meet
Jon Stewart, Bill Maher and Margaret Cho will be part of an all-star lineup of entertainers at this year’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor ceremony Nov. 10.
Back in June, just before his death, George Carlin was named this year’s winner. It will be awarded during a tribute performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. The program will be aired later on PBS stations.
Garry Shandling, Lily Tomlin, Denis Leary, Joan Rivers, Lewis Black and Richard Belzer will also perform. This is the first time in the award’s 11-year history that it is being awarded posthumously. Last year’s winner was Billy Crystal.
Even dead, Carlin is a clear step up.
