Duffy shops like her own kind of rock star

Duffy, who appeared Friday night at the fifth annual “Fashion Rocks,” style-themed, star-studded concert that kicked off New York Fashion Week, isn’t blowing the money from her hit album on frippery and haute couture.

The delightfully down-to-earth romped through Barneys New York store on Madison Avenue in August with the Associated Press and winced at the thousands of dollars on the price tags.

“They’ve got nice things in here, huh?” she told the AP.

Despite the Among her purchases were a beeline for Roberta Di Camerino’s vintage hard-frame bags. For that shopping trip she carried a small pouch purse with just her wallet, phone, hotel room key and a Nivea cherry lipstain (she stars in their ad campaign). She’s also a hat person and tried on a red fedora with a cut-out in the wood for ponytails that she deemed “Genius.” A red, antique-style jeweled hair clip also went into the bag

Duffy also admited she doesn’t have a stylist and all her wardrobe choices are her own, even for the red carpet. She tends to buy a vintage dress and chop off the bottom to make it a mini.

Expensive clothes aren’t the Brit’s cup of tea, but jewlery tends to sparkle for her, like the Ileana Makri diamond stud earrings that caught her eye on the shopping trip or a $2,000 pink diamond ring that’s “perfect for a special occasion. It’s dainty but sweet and sparkly.”

Still, have to love a rock star who thinks that $2K is a lot of money: “I have to ease myself into something that expensive.”

This is my kind of rock star.
