Phelps to rock out the VMAs
Apparently Michael Phelps doesn’t sleep. Not only is he busy breaking records and charming the world, he’s taking over TV.
In addition to opening the new season of “Saturday Night Live,” he’s taking the stage with the MTV elite at the 2008 Video Music Awards. Phelps will be a presenter at the Sept. 7 ceremony, alongside glitterati like Lindsay Lohan (assuming Sam doesn’t take her shopping instead), Scarlett Johansson and teen queen Miley Cyrus.
The swimmer plans to also write a book about his Olympic journey (out in December) and he filmed a cameo for “Entourage” on Thursday.
MTV announced that “High School Musical” kids Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu, and “Twilight” actors Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner will also present.
Newly announced performers for the night will include Katy Perry, T-Pain, Lupe Fiasco and The Ting Tings (I’m so old, only two of these three ring a bell). Rihanna, Pink, The Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne and Kid Rock are also scheduled to pimp various projects on the MTV stage that night.
