Lindsay’s in legal hot water

Britney just got a breather in her legal troubles, now it’s time for Lindsay Lohan.

The star is being sued by three men who say they were in an SUV that Lohan commandeered in July 2007 (um, can civilians do that? Can I just stumble onto the street and “commandeer” the lovely Jaguar that drives by every morning?). The suit contains allegations of battery and false imprisonment.

The men, Ronnie Blake, Jakon Sutter and Dante Nigro, contend that the actress was negligent when she allegedly took over an SUV belonging to one of the men to chase her recently fired assistant. That white Bronco-esque chase ended when the assistant’s mother called police because she was being followed and led Lohan toward a police station (Lindsey, if someone has to call their mother on you, you have gone too far).

The Santa Monica officers at the station suspected Lohan was drunk (I’m thinking rightfully so, I really hope she’s not doing crap like this while in her right mind) and arrested her.

Lohan pleaded guilty to two counts of being under the influence of cocaine in relation to that arrest, plus an earlier drunken driving arrest in Beverly Hills. She served 84 minutes in jail and went to rehab (yes, yes, yes, Amy, she went).

Lohan’s attorney, Ed McPherson, called the lawsuit “absurd.”

He contends that the men were having fun during the chase.

“It just doesn’t make sense,” McPherson said. “They had ample opportunity to get out of the car. It’s three guys who want to get a lot of headlines and want to make some money.”

He also questioned why it took more than a year for them to file against Lohan.

The claimants’ attorney said last year he hoped to avoid filing a lawsuit against Lohan. McPherson said there were some early talks, but no settlement was reached.

The suit seeks more than $25,000 in damages and it’s not the only lawsuit against the star. The woman she was chasing has also sued the actress for emotional distress.

Makes the trainride fights with Sam look pretty tame, huh?
