Palin still using forbidden song
Everyone knows that the Democrats get all the good musicians. The Republicans can have the country singers (except the Dixie Chicks) and the Gospel folks, but the liberals have the real rockstars.
That includes classic tunes like “Rocky” theme song “Eye of the Tiger.”
The guitarist from Survivor, the band behind the fight song, has asked the campaign to stop using the song in any of their election-related promotions.
“Survivor has no affiliation with John McCain or Sarah Palin,” the band’s guitarist Frank Sullivan said in a statement. “They have no right to use ‘Eye Of The Tiger’ in any way as part of their campaign. Using our music without our permission can give people the impression that we are supporters of their campaign – this is not the case.”
But at a campaign stop in Republican burg of Findlay, Ohio Wednesday, the intro song for Caribou Barbie was – you guessed it – “Eye of the Tiger.” Check out this recording of the event, around the 2:25 mark.
There are much bigger issues at stake in this election than illegal use of a song (not that RIAA would agree), but this willful disregard for a polite request is indicative of the candidates’ attitude, especially toward people who don’t agree with them.
