Surgery set for Julianne Hough

Julianne Hough’s stomach pains were more than a little problem for the “Dancing with the Stars” competitor. The two-time champ has been diagnosed with endometriosis and and will undergo surgery to have her appendix removed to address the condition.

A statement on her Web site says: “After consulting with her doctor, this was the course of treatment that was recommended.”

Hough headed to the hospital last week with stomach pains after the performance show Oct. 21. More details will be provided during tonight’s show when she performs with partner Cody Linley.

Endometriosis is a medical condition in which uterine-lining tissue grows outside the uterus on the surfaces of organs in the pelvis or abdomen where it is not supposed to grow. It affects about five to 10 percent of women of reproductive age worldwide.

The next day she said she was “fine” with what she called “stomach problems.”
