Heather Locklear formally charged
Heather Locklear might be headed for lock up soon. The actress has been formally charged with driving under the influence of drugs by the Santa Barbara Police Department.
The misdemeanor charges are in relation to her Sept. 27 arrest in Montecito. A member of the paparazzi called 911, saying Locklear was “driving erratically.”
This occurred just two months after Locklear underwent four weeks of treatment for anxiety and depression.
The drugs in question for these charges were prescription meds.
If convicted, Locklear could get anything from a fine to up to six months in county jail (gee, wonder which end of the scales of justice the rich and famous will end up on?)
“Lab tests showed she had no alcohol in her system and no illegal narcotics of any kind,” said Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter, who declined to comment on what medications – or the amounts – Locklear had taken.
“We believe that the prescriptions she was taking could have impaired her ability to drive a motor vehicle safely,” Carter added.
An arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 26 in Santa Barbara Superior Court.
