McCain goes all maverick-y on SNL
John McCain was a pretty good sport on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend. Cute, funny enough, I think the entire show suffered from scatter shot writing, but he did a pretty good job with what he had:
Robert Pattinson’s Twilight song
The Twilight soundtrack doesn’t hit stores until Tuesday but an advance copy made it out and some generous soul posted Robert Pattinson’s song, “Never Think,” and it’s rather adorable:
Palin gets Punk’d
A Canadian comedy duo called The Masked Avengers from CKOI 96.9 FM in Montreal, Quebec pranked Sarah Palin, convincing her (and her team) they were receiving a call from French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
I have to give these guys props for somehow getting a staffer’s phone number (and to the about-to-be fired staffer who handed the phone to Palin with the words “It’s Sarkozy,” guess you ought to hope Obama gets elected so you have a shot at a new job, ’cause you sure as hell aren’t working for the McCain administration).
My favorite part:
“I loved your documentary… Naylin Paylin! It was edgy!”

Halloween hits Hollywood
Halloween is just past and Beverly Hills must be an awesome place to trick-or-treat.
First up: Kate Beckinsale as a sexy Little Red Riding Hood (complete with wolf head in her basket) while husband director Len Wiseman puts his art department background to good use as a dead pirate and her daughter Lily as Marie Antoinette:

Kardashian didn’t do quite as well the night before at the PAMA Halloween masquerade as Wonder Woman:
1) WTF is up with the black stockings? Wonder Woman doesn’t wear hose, but if she did, let’s go with flesh toned nylons, okay, Kim?
2) You have money, honey, you don’t have to shop at the bargain basement costume shop. You can probably afford an outfit that fits and actually looks like the superhero in question, sweetie.

Sevigny and boyfriend are off again
Another one bites the dust: Actress Chloe Sevigny split from her rocker boyfriend Matt McAuley.
The “Big Love” star has been dating the A.R.E. Weapons bass player on and off for the past eight years, but sources say this time they’re staying off.
A friend told U.S. magazine Life + Style, “She insisted on a clean break and she won’t be talking to Matt.”
Bender’s take on illegal downloading
Everyone has seen those anti-piracy ads before movies (um, unless you’re already downloading them, in which case, I’d assume those ads are omitted). Check out the take on those “enlightening” ads from Futurama’s own felonious robot, Bender:
Cowell and GF call it quits
It seems that Terri Seymour doesn’t idolize Simon Cowell. The longtime girl friend of the “American Idol” judge ended things back in September.
She broke it off over the phone with the famously hard-to-please reality judge about six weeks ago, according to Cowell’s rep. They were together for six years and rumors abound that the break-up came because Seymour wants kids and Cowell is the devil – I mean, doesn’t.
A source told the Daily Mail: “Now, Terri has moved on and found someone else and Simon is hugely relieved. He said, ‘Thank God’ when he heard Terri had gone public with the split and had met someone else.
“He’s been waiting for this day for a long time. He just wants to move on with his life. He’s so relieved, I can’t tell you. Terri’s finally found someone else which has enabled her to move on. In the end, she was clinging to Simon and something that didn’t really exist between them any more.”
Seymour is rumored to be dating actor Stephen Dorff.
In typical Hollywood fashion, they “remain close friends. Simon thinks the world of Terri and that isn’t going to change. He also understands her reason for ending it.”
Seriously, someone out there be honest. Tell your rep to admit that post-breakup they ate a pint of Ben and Jerry’s, drank a bottle of vodka while crying and listening to country music, and plan to avoid the other person like the plague while talking about how horrible they were in bed.
Soleil Moon Frye says I do all over again
Once more with feeling! Punky Brewster herself, Soleil Moon Frye, and her husband, producer Jason Goldberg, renewed their wedding vows Oct. 25 at their Hollywood Home after 10 years of wedded bliss, a hell of a track record for Hollywood.
The sunset ceremony was attended by their daughter (of course), Poet, 3, and Jagger, 7 months; friends Eric Dane and Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. The ceremony was designed by family friend Lisa Rowe and took place amid roses, gardenias and hydrangeas blossoming in the couple’s garden.
The guests were served a home-style dinner of brisket and pasta. The wedding cake was white with chocolate filling.
“Besides the days my children were born – and my first wedding – it was the best night of my life,” Frye said.
In honor of the renewal, Poet and Jagger planted a pomegranate tree. The favor for guests in attendance was their own tree to plant.
Hudson family memorial service set
The Hudson family announced that a public memorial service for Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew will take place Sunday at the singer’s home church on the South Side of Chicago. The service is 4-7 p.m. at Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church, 4526 S. Greenwood, Chicago. A private service will be held before the memorial and neither Jennifer nor her sister, Julia, are expected to attend the public portion.
“The Hudson family welcomes anyone who wishes to attend and pay their respects to these three beloved members of the Chicago community,” said a statement from Hudson’s rep.
The deaths of Darnell Donerson, Jason Hudson and Julian King are still under investigation. A .45-caliber handgun believed to be the murder weapon was found about a block from the SUV in which King’s body was discovered.
Jennifer and Julia Hudson established the Hudson King Foundation for Families of Slain Victims in honor of their family members.
“The specific purpose of the Foundation is to care for the needs of families who have lost relatives to a violent crime,” according to the announcement on Jennifer’s MySpace page. She also tells her fans, “Thank you for your continued support.”
Joaquin Phoenix walks away from acting
Joaquin Phoenix announced last week that his next movie with Gwyneth Paltrow, “Two Lovers” will be his last. The actor dropped the bomb on his retirement from the movie biz at Paul Newman’s camps for kids Monday:
“I want to take this opportunity … to give you the exclusive and just talk a little bit about the fact that this will be my last performance as an actor. I’m not doing films anymore.”
When asked if he was serious, Phoenix affirmed he was and said he’s moved on to music. The 34-year-old Oscar nominee has been working on a record with UK group The Charlatans.
His rep confirmed the retirement to Extra.
Phoenix once told an interviewer “The reason I keep making movies is I hate the last thing I did. I’m trying to rectify my wrongs.”
Maybe he’s tired of that feeling, maybe he finally made a movie he liked, maybe he’s found a new love. Whatever the reason, I’m sorry for our and Hollywood’s loss.
Mena Suvari’s Hair: Hit or Miss?
I’m kinda hoping that this is a wig and that Mena Suvari was just having a bad hair day….
She sported this drastic blonde bob at FEARnet’s second anniversary party, but I’m afraid that it really is a cut too far, please please please grow it out!

Britney Spears released her new album cover Friday in all its airbrushed glory and Jennifer of Team Britney reveals the new single:
OMG!!! There’s been a lot of buzz on the Internets about what Britney’s next single will be and we can reveal it will be…… CIRCUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We’re told the song is an up-tempo track and was produced by Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco. Britney’s up tempo tracks are my fave!
