Cruise chats about fatherhood, love

Tom Cruise is on a relentless mission to make himself America’s darling. Slate.com has a great article about why he’s not and likely never will be again, but the Sun is busy pandering to the fading star.

The critically-bashed “Valkyrie” actor, 46, told the paper he wants 10 kids with his 30-year-old brainwashed concubine third wife, Katie Holmes.

“I love kids. I feel really fortunate to have the teenagers and a two and a half-year-old. It’s a great dynamic.”

He has two kids with second wife Nicole Kidman: Isabella, 16, and Connor, 13.

Of Suri, he said, “She’s so charming, she’s so beautiful, she’s just great.”

The hard-working actor, 46, is often seen publicity whoring out with Suri and Katie.

He claims it was love at first sight: “A couple of hours after meeting her, I thought, ‘I’m going to marry this woman.’ I just knew.”

They married in Italy in November 2006.

The marriage is still going well, not quite couch-jumpingly well, but good.

“Married life is very good, very lovely. I feel lucky to have Kate as my wife. She’s an extraordinary woman. She is funny and smart and she likes the same things that I do.

“She’s a very strong, gracious woman, and a great comedian.

“I like doing romantic things, such as bringing flowers and surprising her with things. I love candlelit evenings with nice music.”

Is she allowed to talk during these candlelit evenings, Tom?

He claims to be a “normal” guy, taking Suri to play group.

“I go to the children’s groups like other daddies,” said Tom. “At first people look at me like, ‘My God, it’s him!’ and they treat me a little differently. But then they realise I’m just a father with my kids. It’s up to me to make everybody else feel okay about the fact that I’m there, and then everything just goes on.”

The “normal” Cruise has realized that his Scientology rantings make him undesirable and crazy-sounding.

He told the Sun he doesn’t want to talk about his beliefs anymore.

“I say, ‘That’s it, no more. Go to the Scientology website’.”

I’d actually suggest this Web site instead, but I’m not Tom Cruise…
