Madonna has one sweet tour in 2008

Madonna’s personal life might have been a little sticky this year, but her professional one is pretty sweet.

According to numbers released by concert trade magazine Pollstar, Madonna was the year’s top concert draw in North America with ticket sales surpassing $105 million. Worldwide, her Sticky & Sweet tour took in more than $280 million, the highest-grossing tour ever by a solo artist, the record her 2006 Confessions tour previously held at $195 million

Next up was Celine Dion’s “Taking Chances” tour after her five-year stint at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. She earned $94 million for her efforts.

Then the Eagles squeaked past Kenny Chesney by just $1.2 million. Bruce Springsteen * the E Street Band ranked fifth with $70.4 million in North America but proved more popular abroad to come in at No. 2 worldwide with 204.5 million, according to Billboard magazine.

4. Kenny Chesney ($72.2 million)
5. Bon Jovi ($70.4 million)
6. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band ($69.3 million)

8. Rascal Flatts ($55.8 million)
9. The Police ($48 million)
10. Tina Turner ($47.7 million)
