Majel Roddenberry dies
Majel Barrett Roddenberry is exploring a strange new world, going where too many good people have gone before. The “First Lady of Star Trek” widow of creator Gene Roddenberry died Thursday at age 76.
The actress appeared in numerous “Star Trek” TV shows, including Nurse Christine Chapel in the original series, Lwaxana Troi in the Next Generation and the voice of the Enterprise Computer in nearly every incarnation. She died of leukemia at her home in Bel-Air, Calif., her representative said.
At Roddenberry’s side were family friends and her only son, Eugene Roddenberry Jr. Gene Roddenberry died in 1991.
We’ll get one final farewell this summer. She recently reprised the voice role in the upcoming “Star Trek” film directed by J.J. Abrams.
