New ‘Bachelor’ engaged – for now

We’re less than a month away from the premiere of the latest cycle of “The Bachelor” but that tried and true method of matrimonial bliss has yielded a (at least temporary) engagement.

New “Bachelor” and single dad Jason Mesnick told PEOPLE that he found his love on the series.

“I’m engaged!” Mesnick, 32, said. “I found exactly what I was hoping for, what I was looking for. I’m completely in love.”

He originally competed on this summer’s “The Bachelorette” but DeAnna Pappas went for snowboarder Jesse Csincsak. For all of a few months. The two broke up in November.

“I really did fall in love with DeAnna,” said Mesnick, “I was shocked (at their break up). I thought they were going to make it.”

Sure. And “The Hills” isn’t staged. Mesnick has hopes that his love with the current lady of choice will be longer lasting than those who came before.

“I don’t want to be by myself,” Mesnick said. “I’m ready for a relationship and a family.”
