Rolling Stones hit the roads
I want to live on Start Me Up Boulevard. The home town of Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger and Keith Richards is planning to name all the streets in a 600 million GBP housing development after the band’s songs.
Council chiefs deciding road names at the 1,500-home Bridge estate in Dartford, Kent, where Jagger and Richards grew up are considering more than 13 street names influenced by their song titles.
Among those under consideration by Dartford Council, include Satisfaction Street, Ruby Tuesday Drive, Stones Avenue and Angie Mews.
The police (smart guys that they are) have warned that the signs could be stolen by Rolling Stones fans after Beatles fans in Liverpool stole road signs for Abbey Road and Penny Lane. They’re right – I’d do it. I tried to pry “Wacker Drive” down in Chicago. Twice.
The other nine streets planned for the housing estate are: Little Red Walk, Dandelion Row; Cloud Close, Sympathy Street, Black Boulevard and Start Street.
