Tameka Raymond out of the hospital
After nearly 11 days of recovery, the wife of R&B singer Usher was released from Sirio-Libanes Hospitala in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday.
Tameka Raymond suffered cardiac arrest while being anesthetized shortly before undergoing plastic surgery, said Ellen Dastry, a spokeswoman for Dr. Silvio Sterman, who was supposed to perform the operation. She was scheduled for a “simple liposuction” at Sao Paulo’s Sao Rafael Hospital.
Raymond was revived in less than a minute with heart massage, and was placed in an induced coma before heading to the intensive-care unit, said Dastry. She then moved to the Sirio-Libanes Hospital to recover.
Usher called off his pre-Grammy performance for Clive Davis to head to Brazil to be with his wife.
The couple have been married since August 2007. They have two sons, 2-year-old Usher Raymond V and 2-month-old Naveid Ely Raymond.
