Teen actress’s killer gets life
The Los Angeles gang member who was convicted of murder for killing “Judging Amy” teen actress Tara Correa-McMullen and another victim has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Damien Watts, 23, was sentenced to consecutive life terms Friday.
Prosecutors say the suspect opened fire on a group of people outside an Inglewood apartment complex, killing the 16-year-old actress and another victim and wounding two men in 2005.
A day before that attack, Watts shot to death Thomas Sanders as he loaded laundry into a car.
Watts was convicted last month of murder with special circumstances, attempted murder and other charges. A co-defendant is awaiting trial.
Correa-McMullen appeared as Graciela Reyes (ironically, a teen gang member) on the CBS series, “Judging Amy.” Her sole movie credit was as a character called, “Big Mac,” with actor/comedian Martin Lawrence, in “Rebound” (2005).
