First on the list are Broadway couple Taye Diggs, 38, and Idina Menzel, 37. The husband and wife, who met during the 1996 production of “Rent” and married in January 2003. The baby is expected later this year.
And there’s a new baby for “New Moon” castmember Alex Meraz, who will play a werewolf in Jacob Black’s pack. The actor and his wife, Kim, welcomed their first daughter, Somack.
And last (for tonight we hope), “American Idol” competitor LaKisha Jones, who was known as a single mom when she vied for the crown on the sixth season, is no longer single and will be a mom again. She married financial advisor Larry Davis last October and the two are expected their first child together this summer.
The baby will follow the release of Jones’s first solo CD, “So Glad I’m Me,” out on May 19.
Margaret Cho says her sexuality is more political than personal. The comedian explained her sexual politics in an interview with Edward Lewine for the “New York Times Magazine” this way:
“I refer to myself as gay, but I am married to a man. Of course, I’ve had relationships with women, but my politics are more queer than my lifestyle.”
Cho has had relationships with both men and women and talked about them openly in her routines.
“If it were not for gay men, I would not talk to men at all…I am heterophobic,” said Cho in her comedy special “I’m the One That I Want” of her childhood growing up in San Francisco in the 70s and 80s with gay men and drag queens.
She married artist/writer/straight man Al Ridenour in 2003, but their marriage isn’t a typical one
“It’s not a traditional situation. It’s not a committed marriage. We’re just friends who share space. My parents don’t understand it. They just send us Yahoo E-cards wishing us well.”
Alyson Hannigan got a heck of a birthday present. The “How I Met Your Mother” star and Buffy alumna gave birth to a girl March 24.
she and her husband, actor Alexis Denisof, welcomed Styana Denisof in Los Angeles on Hannigan’s bithday.
“They’re very excited, and mom and baby are doing great,” a rep said.
Hannigan, 35, announced her pregnancy last October.
“I have pregnancy brain, which I never realized was a thing but it is,” she told Ellen DeGeneres last month about her pregnancy forgetfulness. “I sort of feel like a Koala bear where I’m slightly stoned all the time and say the wrong word.”
This is the first child for the couple, who bet on the set of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and were married in 2003.
Dude, nobody mess with Michelle Rodriguez. The criminally inclined former “Lost” star was resting in a wheelchair after a long flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Mexico City, Mexico when a paparazzi came up to her.
She flew out of the chair and got up in his face, threatening the man until her assistant stepped in to calm her down. Check out the footage below:
Hmm, I have massive doubts about whether this is legit, but recordings alleged to be of Britney Spears have hit the Web.
The recording asks a lawyer to help her with her case against her father and the conservatorship currently in place.
A source close to the arrangement vouches for the voice, claiming it really is Britney.
“It’s the real deal. This is what convinced Jamie to go back to court to have the restraining orders reinstated against Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib.”
On the tape, she says:
“Hi my name’s Britney Spears. I called you earlier. I’m calling again because I just wanted to make sure that during the process of the eliminating the conservatorship that my father has threatened me several times, that you know, he’ll take my children away. I just want to be guaranteed that everything will be fine with the process and that you guys are taking care of everything, that things will stay the same as far as my custodial time. That’s it, bye.”
The voice sounds a little too high-pitched and the accent isn’t quite right in my opinion, but listen for yourself below:
Step by step, ooh baby, they’re gonna get to you, girls. The New Kids on the Block have announced they’ll be back on the road this summer.
They had a successful reunion tour last year and now the “Full Service” tour will do it all over again. It kicks off May 28 in Atlanta, Ga.
Tickets for some will go on sale April 3 on LiveNation.
“What can I say?!?!?! This tour is crazy. The fans are crazy. The crowds are crazy. What can we do to make the summer tour bigger and better??????? GET CRAZIER!!!!!! You want more? You get more! You want Full Service? You get Full Service!! We are going to take it higher!!!!” wrote Donnie Wahlberg on the band’s Web site.

British reality star Jade Goody’s public funeral is set for Saturday and while thousands of mourners and media are expected to attend, her two young sons aren’t. Goody, 27, died March 22 after a long battle with cancer.
Bobby, 5, and Freddy, 4, will instead travel to Australia with their father, TV presenter Jeff Brazier.
Among the celebrity mourners is Michael Jackson. The singer sent his condolences to Goody’s mother, Jackiey Budden, and Goody’s husband Jack Tweed.
“He sent a message saying Jade was a ‘very brave girl.’ He said ‘You must be very proud of her and what she achieved, that so man lives will be saved because of her,’” said family spokesman Max Clifford. “He sent them his condolences and said that he will be sending flowers for the funeral this weekend.”
There was a ring on her finger, but model Bar Refaeli isn’t engaged. Rumors hit the Web that Refaeli and boyfriend actor Leonardo DiCaprio were engaged when the couple was spotted Sunday leaving the Ducati store in Beverly Hills, with a bit of bling on Bar’s finger.
“There is no truth to it,” a source close to DiCaprio told OK! magazine. “Bar just had the ring on that finger. Nothing more.”
Yet another casting announcement from “New Moon.” Last week Canadian model Noot Seear was cast as eye candy for the Volturi vampires in the “Twilight” sequel and now UK actor Jamie Campbell Bower will be joining the production.
The actor will play Caius, one of the three leaders of the Volturi clan.
“Shooting has already begun, and I’m going over in June,” Campbell Bower told the BBC, saying that being a part of the popular series is “very exciting. … It’s a great thing to be a part of, and it did very well last year.”
He’s cute enough, but doubts he’ll get the same gushing, screaming, heart-thumping response that costar Robert Pattinson gets. “I doubt I’ll get the same sort of adulation as Robert- but it’s always nice when people recognize you for your work.”
Seear and Dakota Fanning have already been cast as members of the Italian terrors and more announcements are to come.
“I do know who else will be in it -but I can’t tell you, unfortunately. But go online and have a look at the rumors,” he said, adding, “They’re all false. You’re putting me in a terrible situation.”
A small good has come from the tragic death of Natasha Richardson. CNN is reporting an Ohio girl’s life was saved as the result of the publicity about head injuries.
Morgan McCracken, 7, was hit in the head with a baseball during a game with her family and seemed fine for two days after. She even earned an A on a spelling test, but news of her Richardson’s death prompted Morgan’s parents to wonder if things were OK.
That night, when Morgan began complaining of a headache, her parents took her to the ER. Doctors discovered the same injury as Richardson and rushed the girl to a children’s hospital by helicopter, a luxury Richardson didn’t have. Morgan had surgery and is now doing fine.
“(Our doctor) told us that if we hadn’t brought her in Thursday night, she never would have woken up,” Mr McCracken told CNN.
In related news, Liam Neeson returned to work late last week after his wife’s funeral services. Neeson was spotted sitting alone at the bar of the Hazelton Hotel in Toronto, where he’s shooting “Chloe” with Julianne Moore.
“It was so sad,” a source told the New York Daily News. “He looked like he was in an Edward Hopper print.”
Richardson’s sister, Joely Richardson, also returned to work last week. A rep for Neeson said the actor did return to work and “completed the movie.”
Joaquin Phoenix’s little rapper game hasn’t made everyone happy. Director James Gray is blaming the aspiring rapper for the box-office failure of his recent movie, “Two Lovers.”
The movie pulled in just $1.63 million after five weeks in distribution. It had positive reviews and nominations for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and the Best Foreign Film award at France’s Cesar Awards.
Costarring with Gwyneth Paltrow, it was Phoenix’s last film before his new career direction. He was promoting it with his YouTube popular and awkward appearance on David Letterman. The one with his weird Unibomber beard, gum chewing and general crazy. Phoenix refused to talk about the movie and rambled nonsensically.
In an interview with Thursday’s London Times, Gray said Letterman tried to talk about “Two Lovers,” “but the only thing that’s out there now is a crazy person with a beard making a fool of himself.”
Regarding brother-in-law Casey Afflect’s documentary about Phoenix’s supposed transition from actor to rapper, Gray said, “I have no idea what the hell that guy is shooting. … The whole thing is not to my taste, and I’ve let Casey know this.”
And regarding the rumors that it’s all a hoax, Gray said, “He has his own recording studio (in his house). So if this is a hoax, then it’s the most elaborate thing that I have ever seen. … But if it isn’t, you know, I think he needs, well, help.”
