Michael Caine’s wife hates his new movie
Michael Caine’s new movie is striking a little too close to home. The actor’s wife of 36 years is refusing to let their pregnant daughter see “Is Anybody There?”
In the film, Michael, 76, plays a retired magician who is slowly dying of dementia in an old-age home in the 1980s.
The 76-year-old actor said: “(My wife) Shakira didn’t like it one bit. She explained how she felt to me the other day. I said to her, ‘But you have seen me die in lots of movies’. ‘No,’ she said, ‘I have only seen you killed in movies. In this movie you die as an old man’. It touched her.”
Despite his wife’s disapproval, Caine thinks this is among his best work.
“The performance in this film is the best I can possibly do. That’s the problem. That’s why it touched my wife,” said Caine. He recently lost a friend, his tailor Doug Howard, to the disease.
“I’d just spent five years watching somebody deal with it, so I knew exactly about Alzheimer’s and the confusion it causes. Douglas was my tailor – he wasn’t just my tailor.
“Basically he was my best friend who made my suits. When I was dying in the film, he was dying, so it was a very special time for me.”
Robert Pattinson’s promises and Taylor Lautner’s hair
As a new day dawns, there’s more “New Moon” scuttlebutt. Robert Pattinson spoke to Total Film about obsession (something familiar both to his character and his fans).
He admitted: “I really liked Ian Wright (the soccer player) when I was younger.
“I used to always try and get the double of his sticker for my sticker album.”
Not quite the stalker-like behavior he plays, but okay.
Pattinson assured “Twilight” fans that they’ll love “New Moon.”
“Edward and Bella’s reunion in New Moon is good. It’s different from the book so I think people will be happy,” said Pattinson. “This movie will have a very different mood. In visual terms it’s going to be so different from Twilight. It’s also a lot scarier. Chris (Weitz, New Moon director) is very willing to go down that route.”
On Team Jacob’s side, Taylor Lautner talked to Scholastic (geez, are they taking interviews with everyone? ‘Cause I think I need to make some calls.)
Lautner hates having to wear a wig to play Jacob Black.
“It was very itchy, and I was telling Rachelle (Lefevre), who plays Victoria, I can’t fathom how you live with the hair,” said Lautner. “It is always getting in my mouth. I just can’t have a meal. I’m trying to eat lunch and it is in my food.”
Taylor wasn’t allowed to wear it in a ponytail.
“They didn’t want me to. When I’m doing my lines and doing my scenes and I’m trying to talk to Bella it is (getting in my mouth) constantly,” he explained. “It is like they weren’t looking for the best acting take, they were looking for the take where I wasn’t pulling hair out of my mouth.”
Madonna and Jesus relationship resurrected?
Jesus and Madonna are nearly together again. In fact, I think they should stay together just for the names. Madonna has reunited with her Brazilian boytoy, Jesus Luz, thanks to her fashionista friends.
According to Page Six, Marc Jacobs “wrote a letter of support for Jesus’ work permit” to allow him to stay in the country. “Marc campaigned for Jesus, saying he is highly talented and a necessity to the label.”
Last week, Women’s Wear Daily reported Dolce & Gabbana’s fall-winter menswear campaign will feature Luz. He’s not getting all these gigs just because he’s a pretty face, it’s because his pretty face belongs to Madonna.
“All these fashion lines are hiring Jesus as a favor to Madonna. As long as he can legally work in the US, they can be together,” reports the source.
Madonna’s rep said she’s “not at all involved in managing the career of Jesus Luz. His Dolce job was arranged through his agents,” and Madonna hadn’t asked anyone to help him. Jacobs’ rep had no comment.
Chuck heads to Subway
I did my duty tonight and went to Subway for my veggie delite in honor of the struggling NBC series “Chuck” (actually, I went to two Subways because the first ran out of bread. That’s right, ran. out. of. bread. The second only had wheat and if they moved any slower would, in fact, be going backward). But lead Zachary Levi took 600 fans to Subway as part of the Save Chuck! campaign

Lindsay Lohan tries to waste away for Sam
Nothing says break-up like trying to get back at your ex. And since none of the A-list men are biting, Lindsay Lohan is going with pity.
The actress was spotted in Hawaii looking painfully thin in a tiny pair of short shorts.
She was in Maui with her sister, Ali, and friends shopping at Gucci and Louis Vuitton (despite, um, still not having a job…)
A friend has told PEOPLE that the formerly curvy actress has been losing weight in an attempt to get attention from her ex, Sam Ronson.
“She wants Sam to see how bad she’s hurting,” the pal said. Lohan told Ellen DeGeneres she hoped that being single would be good for her, but has also said publicly that she’s still in love with Ronson, who has kept quiet about the whole thing.
While Lohan was burning through thousands of dollars, Ronson was in New York with friends and her half-sister.
Though their turbulent love affair came to a crashing halt three weeks ago, reports have surfaced here and there that Lohan spent the night at Ronson’s place Friday. Ronson also changed her Facebook relationship status from “single” to “it’s complicated.”
Don’t mess with Dolph Lundgren
It’s really best to check what house you’re robbing before doing so. Armed robbers fled after discovering the home they had broken into belonged to actor Dolph Lundgren.
They had already tied up the star’s wife and threatened her with knives, forcing her to hand over cash and jewelery. But when they spotted a family photo of Lundgren and his kids in one of the bedrooms, they decided to make a speedy exit.
Lundgren is perhaps best known for playing Russian boxer Ivan Drago in “Rocky IV.” He’s 6 feet, 5 inches tall, a black belt in karate and used to be a body guard. He injured Sylvester Stallone on the set of Rocky when he punched the actor in the chest, hard enough to send him to the hospital with bruising.
Police are still searching for the three attackers.
“Things might have turned out very differently if Dolph had been in,” said an insider. “The criminals fled as soon as they realized the owner of the house they had raided was someone they wouldn’t want to come up against in a fight.
“They left (his wife) Anette pretty traumatized. She’s Dolph’s angel and anyone who messes with her is messing with him.”
And in case anyone thinks he’s big dumb guy, he also has a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney and a genius-level IQ of 160.
He has been married to jewelery designer wife Anette Qviberg for the past 15 years.
“Police have got very few leads. All three burglars wore balaclavas and they’ve no real description to go on,” another source said. “They’re looking at CCTV footage to see if they can advance the inquiry. Dolph’s away on business a lot and he’s increased security to try to avoid a repeat.
“Anette has even spoken about leaving the area. But Dolph’s persuaded her it’s a one-off and they should stay put for now.”
Rosie O’Donnell has ‘knock down’ fight with wife, says neighbor
Be careful what you tweet. Pseudo-journalist Julia Allison posted a snippet about her neighbor Rosie O’Donnell’s “knock-down drag out” fight with wife, Kelli Carpenter and the comedienne is not happy.
Allison has written publicly about sharing an apartment building with O’Donnell before, including one about O’Donnell leaving her door open and another complaining about the sex moans next door.
But this last one may be one she regrets. She since deleted the post, which read, “Holy s–t. My neighbor Rosie O’Donnell has been having a knock down drag out screaming match with Kelli for the last hour. Sad :(”
“Yes, they fought – like most couples do. Give me a break – they’re fine! They’re happy (but) they have four kids. Whatever busybody neighbour spread this around probably shouldn’t knock on their door to borrow a cup of sugar – ever,” O’Donnell’s rep said.
Amy Winehouse’s hubby knocks up woman in rehab?
Since Amy Winehouse managed to miss some dysfunction, her estranged husband is helping out by adding some baby mama drama to the mix.
An unemployed mother of two claims she’s six weeks pregnant with Blake Fielder-Civil’s kid. Gilleen Morris, 31, says the two hooked up in rehab, where they conceived the child.
“Blake seduced me and we had a secret fling. “When I told him I was pregnant he said, ‘Oh f*ck!’ But he vowed to stand by me and raise the child,” Morris told News of the World. “Initially I was planning to have an abortion but Blake’s vow has completely thrown me.
“I never planned for any more children. Our fling was just a bit of fun. I never imagined these consequences.
“I’m now confused and don’t know what to do,” said the heroin addict.
The news could wreck Fielder-Civil’s attempt to get half of Winehouse’s $15 million fortune. He’s argued that he’s due the sum because of his wife’s infidelity.
According to News of the World, Blake’s lawyers have been secretly negotiating a settlement out of court, with his mother Georgette calling Winehouse “a cheat” and “a trollop.”
Morris is up for her baby daddy’s ex (did we mention she’s both rich and famous?) being involved in the baby’s life.
“And if Amy wants to be a stepmum I wouldn’t mind, as long as she steered clear of drugs and self-harming. It’s also lovely that Blake’s mum wants to go with me to the hospital. It’s a nice gesture, but it will be nerve-racking meeting her for the first time, let alone explaining how this happened,” siad Morris, who has a 7-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son who live with their grandmother.
But things get a little weird as friend Tanya Kirk claims that Morris asked her to provide her with a urine sample … and soon after, Gilleen “went public” with the claim that her unborn child is Blake’s.
According to Kirk, “She said she needed to prove she was clear of drugs … I thought it was odd, but I simply thought she’d been in rehab and had screwed up. She put me on the spot and stupidly I agreed to give a sample.”
Morris denies the whole thing, but things are a little… shady now. There’s lots of money involved and we’ll see who’s lying to whom since there are plenty of candidates.
Kate Walsh’s divorce gets nastier
Nothing like a divorce to totally eradicate any good feelings a couple has for each other. The divorce proceedings between actress Kate Walsh and Alex Young are getting nasty.
TMZ obtained legal papers filed last Friday by Young. He claims the accounting firm he and his soon-to-be ex-wife Walsh sued have refused to give him a full accounting their joint assets.
London & Co., the accounting firm, aren’t real thrilled with him either. They filed legal papers earlier this month asking for a protection order against Young, claiming it has given him all the financial information he needs but he keeps making more demands. Young’s lawyer is battling the protection order and alleging that London & Co. is acting like a P.R. firm for Walsh and that the protective order reads like a “press release to benefit one client, Ms. Walsh.”
According to Young, a month before he and Walsh got married in 2007, the couple bought a multi-million dollar house together and filled it with expensive furniture, but the firm won’t give him an accounting of it.
TMZ claims Walsh made most of the down payment and the value of the house has gone down since they purchased it, so there’s actually a loss rather than a profit on the home.
Brad Pitt spotted at Niagara Falls
Brad Pitt played tourist this weekend with two of his five kids. The actor brought two of his sons, Maddox and Pax, and his parents, Bill and Jane Pitt, to Niagara Falls, according to the Buffalo News. The five were escorted onto the Maid of the Mist sightseeing boat around 3 p.m. Saturday
The group, wearing blue ponchos for the wet and wild ride, took photos from an upper deck.
“He was looking good,” said local 17-year-old Melissa Harris.
The other half of Brangelina, Angelina Jolie, was in Albany on Sunday, filming scenes for her upcoming film “Salt.”
Robert Pattinson afraid to date
Twifans are a force to be reckoned with and “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson is (rightfully) afraid he will “ruin” the lives of any prospective girlfriend.
Pattinson claims he’s too nervous to date in case the pressure of being seen with him becomes too much.
“I’m always really worried about ruining their lives. Especially with people that aren’t famous. It’s such a massive change. I’m kind of a paranoid wreck,” said Pattinson on “Entertainment Tonight.”
Robert also revealed he still hasn’t got used to seeing his face in magazines.
“It’s getting photographed. You have people who analyse your facial expressions to the tiniest degree. So you’re just trying to avoid getting photographed. You’re like, ‘Jesus, you can’t win!’”
His role as Edward has made a sex symbol out of the Brit, who never impressed the ladies much before.
“It’s funny, but about a year ago I’d talk to girls and no one would be interested. Then when it was announced I would be in ‘Twilight’ and the book’s author gave me her seal of approval, everyone seemed to change their mind. The attention I get now is just mind bending.”
Brangelina’s bodyguard wants to tell all
Brangelina is not amused. The super couple’s bodyguard, Mickey Brett, wants to write a book about his experiences with his famous former clients. But Brad and Angelina have come down on their former employee.
The couple have recruited several libel attorneys in the U.S. and Great Britain to keep him from penning such a page-turner.
Brett put together a proposal for a memoir and a TV show with his first-person account of his years guarding stars like Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Sly Stallone and Richard Gere.
His work with Pitt and Jolie since 2001 were at the heart of the pitches, however. He has less-than-complimentary things to say about Pitt, according to the New York Daily News
Marty Singer, the couple’s American lawayer, claims Brett wasn’t a reliable source and goes so far to call him a “pathological liar.”
He said Brett’s lies to U.S. Immigration officials here had resulted to his being barred from entering this country. Singer said that only recently did Pitt and Jolie discover that Brett, who’d claimed he was a British SAS commando, never even served in the military.
Also among the accusations are that Brett was questioned in the murder of British tycoon Donald Urquhart, though he was later released. In 2006, Brett was arrested for assaulting a restaurant owner in Namibia. Later that year, in India, he was accused of choking a photographer and arrested for roughing up and making racial insults against some parents who were trying to pick up their kids.
Singer clocks Brett’s convictions for various crimes at 11 separate charges.
As for his book and TV proposals, Singer said Brett was bound by a confidentiality agreement.
Jon Bon Jovi’s secret to a happy marriage: fear
Like men around the country, Jon Bon Jovi is terrified of his wife.
The singer kidded that his marriage to Dorothea Hurley has survived for almost 20 years because he lives in fear of upsetting his wife.
When asked about the secret to a successful marriage, Jon replied: “Let’s get that right here, right now. I’m afraid of my wife.”
The couple will mark their 20th wedding anniversary April 29 and Bon Jovi claims he’s happier than ever, made possible in part by their effort to stay out of the public spotlight.
“Best investment I ever made. Trust me she is the best. I am very happy,” he said. The high school sweethearts wed secretly in 1989 at Las Vegas’ Graceland Wedding Chapel.
They have four children together – 15-year-old Stephanie Rose, 13-year-old Jesse James, Jacob Hurley, six, and five-year-old Romeo Jon.
Madonna begs rabbi to pray for Mercy
Madonna is praying for Mercy. The singer has flown in her London rabbi to help her pray for success in her adoption appeal.
Kabbalah leader Eitan Yardeni came to New York to help Madonna pray for a miracle in the case.
A source told Britain’s News of the World newspaper: “They have been praying at every waking hour. The adoption process has been stressful for Madonna. She’s been telling pals it’s felt as painful as childbirth.”
Madonna’s motion to adopt Mercy was rejected because she had not lived in Malawi for 18 months, as is required by law.
She’ll get to make her appeal before a three-judge panel at Malawi’s Supreme Court of Appeal May 4.
Joseph Chigona, Registrar of the High Court, said: “As with all court cases involving infants, this one will be in chambers, not in an open court.”
Madonna’s lawyer Alan Chinula said: “We believe the lower court judge erred by basing her judgment on an archaic law of over 50 years ago.”
Rihanna asks LAPD for her stuff back
Rihanna wants her bling back. After the now-infamous Grammy Eve alleged altercation with then-boyfriend Chris Brown, her jewelry was taken into evidence by the Los Angeles authorities.
The 21-year-old singer filed a motion Tuesday requesting its return. The jewelry was a loaner pair of earrings and three rings said to be worth $1.4 million. They were taken into evidence along with her bloodstained Gucci gown.
The jewels were on loan from four different companies, who now want their stuff back, according to the motion.
Rihanna attorney Donald Fenty notes that Brown’s attorney and the LAPD detective overseeing the case have not objected to giving the jewels back. All have agreed that, if necessary, photos will be acceptable for use at trial. Brown is facing charges of assault and making criminal threats.
Brown has pleaded not guilty on all counts. The next hearing is scheduled for April 29.
Speidi united unholy matrimony
Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are married. For real this time. After some publicity whoring a fake wedding in Mexico last year, “The Hills” couple wed in a real ceremony at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, Calif. Saturday.
After the ceremony the couple’s guests, including Pete Wentz, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, and singer Michael Buble, headed to a reception at Los Angeles’ Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
And a spokesperson for the pair, who allowed the ceremony to be filmed for an episode of their MTV reality show (I’d send them a wedding present myself if they hadn’t whored out their wedding) confirmed the wedding was genuine.
“Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt joined hands in marriage. Dr. Twining F. Campbell served as pastor in front of 200 family and friends,” said the rep.
Sister Stephanie Pratt, one of Montag’s bridesmaids, added, “It was amazing. Heidi looked amazing. She was wearing a million dollars worth of diamonds over a strapless Monique Lhuillier dress. I was up there, and her back was towards me, so I don’t know if she was crying. Everything worked out great.”
Monty Python’s Terry Jones knocks up some chick
Not only is it gross to be shagging a man more than 40 years your senior, it’s completely unfair to bring a child into this world when one parent might not last til the kid is in high school.
Monty Python alum Terry Jones, 67, has knocked up his 26-year-old lover. The mom-to-be is a Swedish Oxford University graduate Anna Soderstrom. She’s well into her second trimester.
Her family appear to have mixed feelings about the baby. Her stepmother Ulrika in Stockholm said: “It is a little bit complicated, but her father is away at the moment so I cannot say any more. Everything is fine… really.”
Jones’s estranged wife, Alison, a biochemist at Imperial College, London, was a bit clearer about her feelings on the matter.
Friends report she had begun to recover from the split after more than 30 years of marriage and this pregnancy “brought all the old feelings of hurt flooding back.”
Alison tossed Terry out of the house in 2004 after he admitted an attraction to Anna. He met the young woman at a book signing in Oxford. His adult children, at ages 32 and 35, are older than the woman.
A friend of Anna’s from Oxford, where she read languages before graduating in the summer of 2006, said: “I would describe her as blissfully unconcerned about what anybody else might think. She’s always been like this.”
Lost’s Henry Ian Cusick sued for sexual harassment
Is there a curse on the “Lost” cast? Is Hawaii just too pretty to leave the show unscathed? Four of the cast have been charged with DUIs (three of whom were prompted killed off) and now Henry Ian Cusick, who plays Desmond on the show, has been accused of sexual harassment.
A suit was filed late last week in Los Angeles Superior Court. Chelsea Stone, who had been employed by ABC for 10 years, claims when she reported Cusick’s bad behavior, she was fired two weeks later.
According to the court documents: “Such harassment included but not limited to the following conduct: Cusick placed his hand on Plaintiff’s buttocks. Cusick then began to caress the back of Plaintiffs body while making moaning sounds. Cusick then placed his face on top of Plaintiff’s breasts, moving his face from side to side.
“Cusick then squeezed Plaintiff’s breasts with his hands. Cusick further kissed Plaintiff on the mouth. At all times during the sexual harassment Plaintiff communicated to Cusick that his sexual advances were unacceptable.”
In the lawsuit, Stone seeks unspecified damages from the actor, ABC, and Grass Skirt Productions, though J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot is not named.
Jamie Lynn Spears’ boyfriend hurt in car accident
Jamie Lynn Spears’ baby daddy, Casey Aldridge, has been hospitalized after a car accident in Louisiana. He was rushed to the emergency room early Sunday morning.
PEOPLE reports that the 20-year-old is facing charges of careless operation of a vehicle.
A family friend claims Aldridge suffered a cracked skull and has been “in and out” of consciousness, but adds: “It’s not as serious as we thought at first.”
Spears rushed to be by Aldridge’s side at the University of Mississippi Medical Center following news of the crash.
Nearly two years ago, Aldridge fathered a daughter, Maddie, with Britney Spears’ little sis at the tender age of 16.
Joshua Jackson wants a pet dinosaur

The “Fringe” star is hoping for a Jurassic Park-style future (except maybe without the deaths and bad sequels). He hopes people will one day have the giant-sized extinct animals as family pets.
“We live in an age where anything is possible. In the news the other day, there was a man talking about how he’s going to recreate a woolly mammoth. We’re one step away from pet tyrannosauruses,” said Jackson, whose into sci-fi stuff like this on his new show, a welcome and different tack from “Dawson’s Creek,” the show that made him famous.
“(Fringe) is much more up my alley. There are not too many similarities between the two. We live in this world of impossibilities, and every time I read one of these scripts it’s like a ‘Pulp Fiction’ novel. And the good news is I don’t have to cry! I’m done with tears!”
But he doesn’t regret his Dawson’s experience.
“I have very fond memories of that time in my life. And I am very, very lucky to have been on that show,” he said.
