‘Britain’s Got Talent’ denies Susan Boyle set up
Susan Boyle has inadvertently contributed to the rumors that she’s a Simon Cowell creation, but the show vehemently denies them. Comments made by Boyle on a recent U.S. appearance supported the stories that “Britain’s Got Talent” picked the singer to appear on the reality talent show and her meteoric rise to fame was managed.
An interviewer asked her: “Did the show find you or did you find the show?” Susan replied: “No, the show found me.”
A source at the show claims she has been misinterpreted.
“No way did producers hand-pick her for the show. How exactly would we find Susan in deepest, darkest Scotland? She’s not someone who sticks out from the crowd,” a source told Britain’s The Daily Star.
Boyle has claimed her elderly mother encouraged her to try for the show while on her death bed two years ago.
“She was the one who persuaded me to fulfil my dreams and go on it. So after watching the last series, I thought I’d take my chance with everyone else. I had to pluck up the courage to go through with it, though. When I was out there, singing on that stage, I was doing it for Mum,” Boyle said.
Simon Cowell, for his part, has come out against Boyle’s recent makeover (a dye job and waxing her eyebrows).
“She and I might have to have a little conversation in the next day or so. “What I loved about her was the fact that she had no sense of awareness about what she looks like and actually doesn’t care,” he told The Sun.
Susan will perform in the semi-finals of “Britain’s Got Talent” next month.
