Chris Pine almost passed on Trek

pineThe new Captain Kirk almost wasn’t. “Star Trek” actor Chris Pine nearly turned down his role in the reboot.

Pine had already agreed to star in Joe Carnahan’s adaptation of James Ellroy’s novel “White Jazz” when he found out he got the part of Captain Kirk.

He told V Magazine: “It was a huge decision choosing between the films.

“I was presented with an unbelievable and really difficult choice. To pick acting with Clooney and playing a character role instead of doing another leading man role was very appealing to me.

“But it was when a friend asked if, in five years time, looking back, would I regret not taking Star Trek, that I knew I disn’t want to be in the position of wondering what-if?”
