Friends and co-stars say Christian Bale is just a normal guy
For all his techno-thriller stardom, Christian Bale doesn’t even own a cell phone.
The “Terminator Salvation” actor claims prefers a “low-maintenance” existence and lives in a modest house with his wife, Sandra “Sibi” Blazic and their four-year-old daughter Emmeline.
Bale’s co-star Bryce Dallas Howard said: “He barely has a cell phone. He’s not one of those flamboyant actors that need a lot of people helping him. He and his wife don’t have a nanny. They live in a one-bedroom house. They’re very low-maintenance, low-key, real people.”
No word on whether Bale physically or verbally abused Howard into saying that.
Bale says fame hasn’t affected his day-to-day life.
“I do exactly the same as I’ve always done. I don’t have an assistant. I don’t drive a flashy car. I do everything myself. I go to the supermarket myself, the hardware store,” he said. “It’s something I would greatly miss because I would start to feel like a prisoner.”
He also turned down the chance to stay in a luxury villa while filming ‘Public Enemies’ in Wisconsin.
The movie’s director Michael Mann said: “He just wanted an ordinary room. Christian is so modest and unassuming. He moves with real life.”
