Jon and Kate Gosselin spend weekend apart
Kate Gosselin was plus eight and minus Jon this Memorial Day, the same say their show premiered on TLC to record ratings.
Her maybe-estranged husband was photographed drinking a beer with two women at Front Street Bar and Grill in Newburgh, NY, according to TMZ.com.
Kate, however, was spotted with the kids and her bodyguard Steve Neild getting off a ferry on Bald Head Island, NC, Wednesday morning.
After Monday’s season five premiere, the couple released the following statement:
“As many couples do, we are navigating a very difficult time. Our current situation brings us together around the children and some times sets us apart. We keep our faith that we will make the right decisions for our family.”
Kylie Minogue moves against malaria
Kylie Minogue sang a medley of hits at a charity concert at the Cannes Film Festival this week. The event benefits the Miracle Africa International Fundraiser, which helps fight malaria in African countries.
Prior to the concert, Minogue said: “This is a very small venue compared to what I would normally do, and I’m going to absolutely love it, it just feels like a really sweaty show. I turn around and there’s my band and we are all crammed in together.”
She began the concert wearing a black sequined leotard, fishnets and a black hat and ended the evening in a corset-topped dress with diamante detail, while wearing a jeweled carnival mask.
In the crowd were actress Hayden Panettiere, celebutante Peaches Geldof and singer James Blunt.
Nadia Murabet, the executive director of the Miracle Africa International Foundation, said: “One of the things that I really saw in Africa that many people don’t realize is that malaria is the biggest issue. Yes AIDS is an issue but malaria is worse. So we really have to start moving to get it eradicated.”
Gisele Bundchen smells a rat
Bridget Moynahan may think Gisele Bundchen is a rat, but the supermodel is actually being plagued by the furry pests.
Bundchen was spotted screaming in horror when she spotted one of the rodents in New York’s West Village area.
A source said: “There’s been a parade of big fat rats every night. You can hear shrieks from fighting rats and from girls walking by who see the rats.
“They come out from a building where the owner hasn’t bothered to replace stolen garbage cans, leaving the rats to fight over all the trash on the street.”
Another model has been beside herself thanks to NYC pests. Kate Moss’s home was invaded by a neighbor’s doves.
A source said, “The doves entered the place via the veranda and took up residence. They caused havoc, setting off her state-of-the-art alarm and making a real stink, literally!
“They relieved themselves over her antique furniture leaving unsightly stains and a vile smell. Kate spent hours running around the place trying to make them fly away.”
Lily Allen not a Susan Boyle fan
Lily Allen is unconvinced by Susan Boyle’s heart-felt performance on “Britain’s Got Talent.” Boyle sang “Memory” from Cats in the semi-final round of “Britain’s Got Talent” and earned no acclaim from Allen.
But Allen tweeted, “I thought her timing was off on Britain’s Got Talent on Sunday – no control, and I don’t think she has an amazing voice.
“She can sing,” Allen admitted, “but it’s not about talent with her, is it?”
She added that Boyle “seems like a lovely lady but, if the show is about talent, then that Shaheen (Jafargholi) kid should win.”
In other Lily Allen news, the singer is about to spend nearly half a million on a vacation home.
She already has an apartment in London and is looking to buy a house in the town of Ilfracombe, Devon.
A source said: “Lily loves London but would like a bolt hole to escape to. Kate Moss, Liz Hurley and Pete Doherty all have pads in the Cotswolds, but she hit on Devon. Ilfracombe is surprisingly up and coming, plus it’s on the coastline and very picturesque.”
Lady Gaga confesses bisexuality
Lady Gaga goes both ways. The singer revealed in the new Rolling Stone magazine that she’s bisexual and her boyfriends haven’t been particularly accepting of that fact.
“The fact that I’m into women, they’re all intimidated by it,” she said. “It makes them uncomfortable. They’re like, ‘I don’t need to have a threesome. I’m happy with just you.’”
Gaga (real name Stefani Joanne Germanotta) said she has never been in love with a woman and that the interest is purely physical in nature. Her love of her life was with a heavy-metal drummer named Luke, at age 19, just four years ago.
“I was his Sandy, and he was my Danny, and I just broke,” she said. Gaga claims all of the songs on her debut album, The Fame, were inspired by the relationship.
She saves her rawest emotions for her music.
“My music’s not going to wake up tomorrow morning and tell me it doesn’t love me anymore,” she said. “So I’m content with my solitude. I’m okay with being alone. I choose to have someone in my life when I can.”
Gaga said her music is “inspired by skyscrapers, architecture” and hopes to offer her fans something different.
“I don’t feel like I look like the other perfect little pop singers. I think I’m changing what people think is sexy,” she said. “I feel like I have so much to do… My true legacy will be the test of time, and whether I can sustain a space in pop culture and really make stuff that will have a genuine impact.
Winona Ryder talks about rocky early life
Winona Ryder’s long and winding life of drama (long before the shoplifting fun in 2001) included an “extra-large breakdown” when she was 20.
The actress, 37, said she had difficulty coping when she launched to Hollywood’s A-list after hits like “Edward Scissorhands” and “Dracula.”
“I had just done ‘Dracula’ and ‘Edward Scissorhands’. I had just had my first real break-up, the first heartbreak. And I think it was really ironic because everybody else thought I had everything in the world. I had no reason to be depressed, everything was sort of at its peak, but inside I was completely lost. I remember feeling, ‘I can’t complain about anything, because I’m so lucky, I’m so lucky’ After that I realised I needed to take time off more regularly,” said Ryder.
Her trouble in life included being teased at school because she looked like a “gay boy.”
She told Elle magazine: “We only shopped at the Salvation Army, and I would get these three-piece, 1970s little boy suits. I had really short hair and the third day of seventh grade these kids basically jumped me in the hall because they thought I was a gay boy, and they roughed me up. I think when that happened, I kind of went into a movie in my head because I couldn’t deal with what was happening.’”
Chris Brown sued by photog
Chris Brown is in yet more legal trouble. The singer is being sued by a photographer who says Brown was involved in a violent incident at a Los Angeles gym back in March.
According to the lawsuit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, the incident occurred a few weeks after the alleged beating of Rihanna after a Grammy Eve party. The photo snapped a shot of Brown playing ball with his friends and the singer’s bodyguards yelled at him, so he tried to leave. A gym employee then tried to block his escape, supposedly causing the paparazzi to fall down a stairwell.
Brown’s bodyguards caught up with him and “picked him up by his shorts and physically assaulted him.”
The complainant claims he was a paying member at the gym and thus had the right to be on the property. He’s suing Brown and L.A. Fitness for assault and battery, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence and premises liability.
Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, released this statement: “The is a specious and frivolous lawsuit by one of the paparazzi seeking publicity and a payday. He’s done this before and lost. We will vigorously defend against this.”
This isn’t the first time the guy has sued a star. He tried to sue Pierce Brosnan over an incident in Malibu, but the case was ultimately dismissed.
ER’s Parminder Nagra welcomes a baby boy
“ER” star Parminder Nagra was in the ER herself recently. And then in the maternity ward. Nagra and her husband, photographer James Stenson, welcomed son Kai David Singh Stenson on May 19.
“Mother, daddy, and baby are all doing great,” said her rep.
Nagra’s pregnancy was made a part of the final episodes of the hit NBC show.
Nagra, 33, and Stenson, 34, announced the pregnancy in December and were married in January after seven years together. In March, Nagra had baby shower planned by her husband.
Jon and Kate’s siblings spill on alleged exploitation
When your family is willing to publicly say you need help, maybe you should, you know, get some help. Kate Gosselin’s brother and his wife, Kevin and Jodi Kreider, sat down on “The Early Show” Wednesday to say they believe “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ is child exploitation.
Folks might remember the couple as the resident babysitters and help with some home construction.
But as the show grew, Kevin and Jodi said they became uncomfortable with the year-round filming, even in the kids’ bedrooms.
“They’re being exploited,” Jodi said. “And it’s time for America to see the situation for what it really is, which is unfortunately, there are to laws protecting children in reality TV shows. And it’s time for the public to be aware of this.”
They claim the children do not want the cameras in their lives all the time.
But they don’t think the show will stop any time soon (especially since Monday night’s ratings were the highest they’ve ever been). Jodi said they’ve spoken to the couple about their concerns but believe now Jon and Kate are “very blinded by all of this media and… fame and the fortune.”
The couple said their relationship with Jon and Kate is very strained and they haven’t been allowed to see the children in a long time.
“They say their children is their priority, but clearly it is not,” said Jodi.

Susan Boyle flipped out over Piers’ praise for another?
It looks like all those YouTube hits may have gone to Susan Boyle’s head. Sources say the “never-been-kissed” competitor went nuts at a screening “Britain’s Got Talent” Tuesday. Witnesses said she started throwing f-bombs when her favorite judge, Piers Morgan, praised her competition, Shaheen Jafargholi, age 12.
According to The Sun, The Mirror and The Daily Mail, the 48-year-old singer cursed as she stormed out of an event held at a London hotel bar when Morgan told the little singer, that he had giving “pound for pound, the best singing performance we have heard in the semi-finals so far.
Sources said she flipped the TV screen the bird, cried “f*ck off!” and headed to her room for the rest of the night (hmm, who’s the 12-year-old here?).
“Everyone was stunned by her reaction,” said one witness.
Boyle has admitted to having a crush on Morgan, calling him “Piersy baby” during Sunday’s semi-final.
A rep from the show denies the incident happened and doesn’t even think Boyle was in the room at the time of Shaheen’s performance of “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” from “Dreamgirls.”
“As far as we are aware Susan was not at the bar during Shaheen’s performance. She started watching the show there but left early and watched some of the acts in her room as she was being asked for interviews in the bar by journalists.”
Is Piers right? Does Susan have something to worry about? Check it out below:
Robert Pattinson shirtless
Mmmm, pretty…
Not sure why Robert Pattinson has his shirt off for filming of “New Moon” in Italy Wednesday, but I do know that I don’t care.
Tom Arnold engaged?
Actor and comedian Tom Arnold is hoping the fourth time will be the charm. He’s planning to wed girlfriend Ashley Groussman.
The couple met a year ago at a Hollywood party and now the National Enquirer reports Arnold has proposed and she’s accepted.
A date has supposedly been set for the marriage of the actor and the jeweler.
Arnold was married to Roseanne Barr for four years, then Julie Champnella
Arnold was famously married to comedienne Roseanne Barr, from 1990 to 1994. After that first marriage ended acrimoniously, he wed Julia Champnella for four years, then spouse number three, Shelby Roos, for five years.
Michael Lohan gets charged, Linday Lohan gets snubbed
Not a good week for the Lohan family. Lindsay Lohan’s father, Michael Lohan, is headed back to jail. He was arrested last month for allegedly threatening to kill his fiancee and himself when she tried to break up with him.
Cops took him to jail April 6 for a phone threat authorities claim he made to Erin Muller, 34, on March 18, a little more than a month after his parole ended for other charges. He could spend up to a year behind bar for the charges.
Lohan faced the charged at Central Islip court and spotted NY Post reporter Kieran Crowley and photographer Dennis Clark, subsequently flipping out.
“Michael! Plan two!” shouted Lohan’s lawyer, Anthony Grandinette, as his client fled. Lohan and Muller then hid in her car while Grandinette appeared on his behalf.
Lohan’s dad had yet another date in court in Westbury Wednesday to explain why he’s $12,000 behind in child support, according to Page Six.
His daughter isn’t doing much better. The actress and sometime singer wanted to hop on stage with Asher Roth at a Los Angeles concert, but the rapper would have none of it.
Roth had a gig at the University of California’s Santa Barbara campus and planned to perform his hit “She Dont’ Want a Man” and Lindsay asked to hop on stage with him. She got so annoying, he ignored her altogether, according to the New York Daily News.
A source said, “Lindsay was bugging both Asher and his management team to get onstage during She Don’t Want a Man, but Asher was so annoyed by her requests that he actually skipped performing the single.”
Lohan took to her Twitter.com blog to vent her anger, sniping at Roth for failing to show her and her pals the love.
She wrote, “Wow. Asher was cocky to all my friends and not that nice.”
I’m remembering all over again why I hated Lindsay Lohan. Honey, you’re a marginally talented white girl, not a rapper. Please don’t bug the people with real talent, okay?
Kate Gosselin’s choke hold on Jon
These suckers must be selling like hotcakes. Usweekly is doing its fifth consecutive cover on the Jon and Kate Gosselin scandal, this time detailing Kate’s “tight leash” on her husband and more about their strange relationship.
“She used to give him only $5 to spend, and if he was out and needed more money, she would give him hell,” his former employer at Style Craft Corp, David Rothermel, said.
Rothermel fired Jon for misusing company resources (though the Gosselins claimed in “Multiple Bles8ings” it was because he didn’t want to pay the insurance necessary for the about-to-be famous couple. Rothermel said Jon, a college dropout, spent all day looking online for freebies for his brood.
He also remembers a very-pregnant-with-sextuplets Kate storming into the office one day.
“She came in raising hell because Jon’s father was supposed to bring her lunch and he was late,” Rothermel recalled. “She got up out of bed rest to come in and yell at anyone who would listen!”
The magazine also claims that Kate banned Jon from seeing his brothers after his father’s funeral.
During Monday’s season premiere, its highest-rated to date, Jon said, “I can’t write. Some people say I can’t talk or breathe right, either.” (Kate famously told him once to “stop breathing so loud.”) Kate admitted she’s “been hard” on Jon during the 10 years of their marriage.
“I would never deny that. I’ve always regretted it,” she said.
AT&T helped ‘American Idol’ cheat?
Oh noes! An “American Idol” scandal! One of the show’s sponsors, AT&T, admitted a few overeager company employees helped Arkansas fans vote by text at viewing parties, but they claim it didn’t influence the final results.
Kris Allen of Conway, Ark., ended up winning the “Idol” title last week over front-runner Adam Lambert.
AT&T said that in the future the company will ensure employees understand that its sponsorship “celebrates the competition, not individual contestants.”
In a separate statement, Fox and the show’s producers said they are certain the results are “fair, accurate and verified” and that the integrity of the voting process was protected against unfair influence.
Uh-hu. Cheater, cheater, pumpkin-eater (although, given the accusations of homophobia, I should probably put some other sort of eater in there…)
Elizabeth Taylor tweets her thanks
Elizabeth Taylor is home and tweeting. The star was released from the hospital and posted that she is “feeling great” on her Twitter page.
While incapacitated, she asked her supporters to try to smuggle her a new puppy into her room last week.
Now the 77 year old reports she is back at home after a routine visit to the medical facility and thanked them for their goodwill messages.
She writes, “I’m home from the hospital and feeling great. Thanks for all the love and support!”
UPDATED: ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ director buys homes for homeless stars
In the wake of news that two of “Slumdog Millionaire’s” child stars are now homeless, director Danny Boyle has set off for India to help find them homes.
The director met with several of the film’s stars at the private lounge of Mumbai’s Jw Marriott hotel on Tuesday as part of his efforts to help just two children (who have been given considerable advantages thanks to their roles) emerge from epic poverty. He announced Wednesday afternoon that he has purchased a new home for Ismail and is planning to do the same to put a roof over Ali’s head too.
Boyle said, “The homes are a concern. That is one of the reasons why we built the trust.”
Boyle and his fellow filmmakers established the Jai Ho Trust last year to try to make sure nine-year-old Rubina Ali and her co-star Azhar Ismail, 10, would be able to continue their educations.
A spokesman for the Jai Ho Trust describes Ismail’s new apartment as “comfortable, in a good neighborhood (and) near his school”, with the property costing “upwards of two million rupees” (about $42,000).
Authorities had demolished Ali’s shack earlier this month, leaving her out on the streets, just a few days after the same thing happened to Azhar Ismail.
John Lithgow to join ‘Dexter’
Everyone’s favorite serial killer is getting some company. John Lithgow is joining season four of “Dexter” as the serial killer “Trinity” who kills in threes and recently moved to Miami after being hunted by FBI profiler Frank Lundy (who nearly caught Dexter last season and is currently loving on his sister, Debra).
According to reports, the recently-wed Dexter becomes fascinated by Lithgow’s character, amazed he’d killed so many and hasn’t been caught in more than 30 years. Lithgow will appear in all 12 episodes.
Brooke Hogan’s vomitous album cover
No, Brooke Hogan, no. Bad wannabe pop star!
This is the shiteous cover for her new album:
I can’t even bring the sarcasm.
Robert Pattinson’s dream role
Robert Pattinson may be playing every tween girl’s fondest desire in the Twilight series, but he has his eye set on another role. The actor wants to play the role of Van Morrison if ever a biopic hits the screen.
He told Moviefone, “I’d love to play Van Morrison, but I doubt I would get the part.”
Right now, however, Pattinson is in Italy filming scenes for “New Moon.” He was spotted dining out with co-star (and oft-rumored girlfriend) Kristen Stewart. The two were joined by Stewart’s boyfriend, Michael Angarano and fellow “New Moon” co-star Ashley Greene.
Pattinson was in Cannes last week to promote “New Moon,” for a less fun mean in which he was mobbed by a group of 700 fans.
