Emma Watson to quit acting – for now
Emma Watson says she’s done with acting after Harry Potter wraps up. This might be a Cher/Rolling Stones-esque retirement, ’cause she’s awful young, but Watson said she doesn’t have a “burning passion” for acting.
The star is headed to England’s Cambridge University in the fall and said she will only be tempted back if she finds a role she’s very passionate about.
She told Teen Vogue, “There’s not, like, a burning passion in me that I have to act and I don’t care what I do. Until something comes along that I feel as strongly about as I did Hermione – like, I felt that it was life or death – I don’t want to act again.”
Johnny Depp is an awesome tipper
Johnny Depp is my new favorite celeb. I love celebrities who remember the little people and Depp remembered his waiter to the tun of $4,000.
Mohammed A . Sekhani a waiter at Chicago’s legendary steakhouse Gibsons, told RadarOnline.com: “Johnny and his party arrived just after 11:30 p.m. at the restaurant and requested a private room. He had visited our restaurant several times before while he was filming ‘Public Enemies’ and he promised me that he would return after the premiere.”
The group had appetizers while they waited for their meal, including Depp’s favorite, clams baked with garlic, pepper and cheese.
“He also ordered some $500 bottles of Italian wine and he was in good spirits throughout the evening chatting with Mr. Mann and Miss Cotillard. I have worked with a lot of stars like Sean Connery and Robert De Niro but Johnny Depp is my favorite. He is a very soft spoken guy who is very charming and sweet – when I wait for him he doesn’t like to be too fussed over and is not in any way demanding,” the waiter, who had served Depp before said.
“Because he had visited us before he calls me ‘Mo’ and I know exactly the way he likes to be treated. He may be one of the most famous actors in the world but he is a very ‘humble guy’ and a really cool dude. Obviously, I was delighted with his tip but he has always been very generous every time that he has visited us here at Gibsons. When the party left around 2:30 a.m. he smiled and told me that he would return – they were a great group of people.”
Damned straight. I’d have called him all sorts of great words for way less than $4,000.
E! nixes Speidi coverage
Oh, E! I I think I love you. You’ve gotten rid of a couple I’m a little afraid of. The network has banned Speidi (aka, Spencer and Heidi Pratt) after 94 percent of viewers voted against the coverage.
A spokesperson for the network said, “It was just a question of overexposure and wondering how much of the news about them was truly news or contrived. It just started to feel as if they had maybe jumped a shark in the past couple of weeks and it might be time to just take a rest. It wasn’t really one particular instance, it just seemed like they’d reached a point where they crossed a line in the interest level of our audience…
“We really didn’t know which way it would go. They’re a controversial couple, and we didn’t know if people were done with them or not. But we went into it knowing that whatever they decided, we would do. We’re prepared to live by the vote.”
Now, if they actually stick by this, my respect for E! (which gave us the Kardashians and thus lost most of mine) is once again in place.
Farrah Fawcett gets last rites
Farrah Fawcett’s three-year battle with cancer may be near an end. The actress was re-admitted to hospital in California at the beginning of the week and, according to reports, a priest was called to Fawcett’s bedside in intensive care on Wednesday to read the devout Catholic her last rites.
“Extra” reported her 90-year-old father, James, is heading to her bedside, after being told she hasn’t got long to live.
Ryan O’Neal planned to wed her before she died (no word on whether that happened) and he’s trying to get a temporary jail release for a final goodbye for their son Redmond, who is serving time in a rehab jail on drugs charges.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers arrested
To be this annoying, you must be much more talented. “Tudors” actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, drunk, was detained for several hours after allegedly punching a waiter at a Paris airport, Agence France Presse reports.
The actor was placed in custody on Saturday at the Le Quotidien bar in terminal 2F at Charles de Gaulle airport. A server refused to serve Rhys Meyers because he appeared drunk. A shouting match ensued with the bar’s manager and another employee tried to separate the pair. Rhys Meyers then allegedly punched the employee.
The actor has a court date in a Paris suburb in September on charges of “willful violence, outrage, hitting and threatening death,” a source told the news service.
Sigh. He was previously arrested and charged with being drunk and disorderly at Dublin airport in 2007.

It occurs to me I’ve watched far more music videos online than on TV lately. Just thought I’d mention it. The latest one I’m watching is Pink’s new “Funhouse.” Maybe it’ll grow on me, but I don’t think it’s the best from her new album, not by far.
No kids for Ellen and Portia
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia De Rossi have opted for pets over people. The couple have decided against starting a family and claim they’d rather be good pet owners.
DeGeneres claims it’s too big a responsibility (I agree, even my cat is too co-dependent for my taste).
She told AOL Television, “I don’t think we’re going to have kids. We have animals, and we love them. They don’t talk back, and they don’t explore their vocal chords out in public.
“We definitely thought about it… but it’s just a huge responsibility, and I don’t know that that’s something we want to take on. We’re very happily married without children.”
The pair is new aunts – and that’s enough for now: “(Portia’s) brother and his wife just had a baby girl, who’s a month old now, and it’s fun to be a part of that.”
Kevin Spacey goes for drugs over politicians
Since I’m currently pissed at politicians looking to close my damned libraries (come on, kids, it’s like puppies and babies, this is easy – leave the libraries be), I’d have to agree with Kevin Spacey. The actor said he would rather be a drug addict than a politician.
Spacey, a good friend of former U.S. President Bill Clinton, denies being interested in political office.
He told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “I would never ever think about going into politics.
“I would rather become a crack addict. I think you can be just as effective in public service.”
Among his reasons are a love of Great Britain. He’s lived in London for seven years and is considering applying for dual citizenship.
“I love living in London. I can say with all sincerity that London is my home,” he said.
“I was in New York before. It is a great city but my focus for the next six years will be in Britain.
“I will never renounce being American but there is a part of me that is British now. I may go for that dual citizenship, who knows.”
Paul McCartney aiming for 100
Half the Beatles are gone, but Sir Paul McCartney thinks he’ll be around for a while. The singer expects to live to be 100, thanks to his vegetarian lifestyle.
“Paul has a hunch he’ll still be here to mark his 100th year. He leads a pretty healthy life with a strict vegetarian diet and he exercises regularly. He certainly sees 100 as a reachable target,” said a friend.
But McCartney is looking for a new job for the last 40 some years of his life. He recently revealed he is bored with known as a Beatle.
He explained: “You get fed up being him. You’re always that guy. If I was Bruce Springsteen, I might get fed up being Bruce Springsteen. I might want to be the kid I was growing up, when I didn’t have that image to live up to.”
Fiance dumps Rachel Hunter without explanation
Even models get their hearts broken. Hockey player Jarret Stroll called-off his wedding to former supermodel Rachel Hunter, just seven weeks before they were due to tie the knot.
According to RadarOnline.com, Stroll sent out e-mails to guests informing them that the August 14 ceremony was off, but wouldn’t give Hunter a reason.
The L.A. Kings star proposed to Hunter last August after dating for two years and they’ve bought a $3.5 million home in Hermosa Beach, Calif.
A friend of Hunter’s told the UK Sun newspaper: “She is absolutely devastated. Everything was in place for the wedding – she had the designer dress, the venue and guest list. She has no idea why Jarret has done this. It sounds like it could be a classic case of cold feet. He is a fair bit younger than her.” (she’s 39 and he’s 27).
Poor Rachel, go take a long hot soak and find another handsome, rich and famous guy to marry.
Kate Gosselin out and about, Jon hurt by her statements
The Gosselin drama continues. Kate Gosselin was spotted still wearing her wedding ring while bopping around Wernersville, Pa. in her Toyota Land Cruiser. She stopped by the dealership to get it serviced and ran errands, looking happy according to witnesses.
“Considering they are now getting divorced, Kate seemed quite upbeat,” a witness said. “She was laughing and smiling with her bodyguard as she chatted to staff at the car showroom and the gas station.
“It almost looked like the divorce announcement has taken a huge burden off her shoulders and everything is finally out there in the open,” the witness added. “Kate seemed totally relaxed and was texting on her phone and answering calls from friends.”
Jon spent the day playing with their kids in the garden of their $1.1 million country home, but said he was hurt by Kate’s divorce statement Monday.
After filing papers Monday, Kate told The Associated Press: “Over the course of this weekend, Jon’s activities have left me no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect myself and our children.” She added that “it was appropriate and necessary” for her to initiate this proceeding but refused to discuss why.
In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Jon said, “Yesterday, Kate filed for divorce. Our kids are still my No. 1 priority. I love them and want to make sure they stay happy, healthy and safe.
“My job is being the best, most supportive and loving father that I can be to my kids, and not being married to Kate doesn’t change that. This will be a difficult transition for all of us, but Kate and I will work out a schedule that enables our kids to have plenty of quality time with both of us at home in Pennsylvania.
“I am deeply saddened that we are divorcing, and also hurt by the statement Kate made last night about the divorce. I have always done everything I can to protect our family.
“The one thing I do agree with in Kate’s statement is her desire to resolve things amicably. Of course emotions are running high for both of us right now, but for the sake of our children and our family’s privacy, I hope that we can both limit our public comments about the legal proceedings going forward.”
Before ending his statement, Jon said his Father’s Day last weekend was one of his best ones yet because, “I was home with the kids for four days, just being a dad. No nannies, just the kids and me. In fact, with the exception of Aaden’s visit to the doctor, I couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend Fathers Day weekend.”
TLC announced Tuesday that the show will go on hiatus until August. They were six episodes into a 40-episode fifth season and are sure to re-tool the show to play up the divorce court aspect that’s gotten them stellar ratings not once, but twice.
Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo split
No newlyweds ahead for Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo. The couple have split, reps for both stars say.
“They have amicably split but remain good friends who still greatly care for one another,” Minnillo’s rep said.
Adds a source: “It was an amicable break-up. They walk away from it still friends.”
Another source said, “They still care about each other very much. This is what’s best for both of them.”
The couple hooked up in 2006, one year after Lachey divorced from wife Jessica Simpson.
In 2007, Minnillo said she wanted to have kids with Lachey: “I always say I want three boys and a girl, but at the end of the day, I just want healthy kids.”
Jon Voight thinks Megan Fox is as sexy as his daughter
Yeah, that headline should creep you out. Jon Voight is an icky old man. Seriously. It’s just weird to rank your daughter in a sexual sort of fashion.
The “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” star thinks Megan Fox is as “sexy” as his estranged daughter Angelina Jolie.
He told Life and Style Weekly magazine: “Everybody is unique. They’re both very beautiful and they’re both kind of sexy girls.”
He suggested Fox give time and money to charity if she really wants to be the next Angelina Jolie (though what exactly he’d know beyond the tabloids, I’m not sure – they haven’t talked in years).
“Maybe Megan will start doing the things that Angelina is so well known for. Angelina is obviously known for her helping with kids and concern for others. I think that would be wonderful for all of the kids if Megan were to do the same. Megan can do a lot of good, so that would be great,” said Voight.
Sienna Miller and Balthazar Getty back on
Sienna Miller is back to being the other woman. She’s reunited with her former lover Balthazar Getty in Italy. He even brought his mother along for the fun.
The on-off couple have been spotted on vacation in Positano in the south of the country. Friends say Sienna and Balthazar have reconciled after splitting a month ago.
“They’re ready to put their troubles behind them,” said a source.
For those who may have forgotten, the couple hooked up last year, back with Getty was married with four children. He separated from his wife, Rosetta Millington, and got himself written off “Brothers and Sisters”
The “G.I. Joe” actress and Getty’s mother Gisela arrived in Positano on Friday and he joined the party Sunday. The couple took a boat to nearby Nerano, where they spotted kissing over an intimate lunch.
“Sienna was nibbling on his ear. Even when the food arrived her appetite was only for her man,” said the source.
Daryl Hannah arrested in West Va.
Actress Daryl Hannah has been arrested in West Virginia for stopping traffic. Not because of her beauty, but because of her political beliefs.
The actress was among activists protesting mountain mining and refused to move when police arrived at a coal processing plant in Raleigh County to disperse the crowd.
Hannah was booked on misdemeanor charges of obstruction and impeding traffic.
Climate control expert and NASA scientist James Hansen was also among the 32 people arrested on Tuesday.
According to a news release from the protesters, the group admitted to crossing onto the property of Massey Energy and also admitted to “purposely trespassing to protest the destruction of mountains immediately above the Coal River Valley community.”

Divorce papers say ‘Jon and Kate Plus 8′ a fake
This fits in with the not-so-conspiracy stories spun over at Gosselins Without Pity and isn’t terribly shocking, unless you’re a fan of the show. Kate Gosselin in her divorce papers, filed Monday, that she and husband Jon have been living “separate and apart” for at least two years. Their “reality” show wasn’t exactly reflecting reality for the last few seasons, it would seem. The court documents state the 10-year marriage is “irretrievably broken.” She also says the couple hasn’t been able to reach an agreement on how to divide their things, such as their McMansion in Western Pennsylvania. Their show portrays quite a different picture – a happy couple who just renewed their vows in Hawaii last year. “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ is still in production, in its fifth season. The couple receive a reported $75,000 per episode from TLC.
UPDATE: TMZ claims this is legal wrangling, that by saying Kate considered the marriage over for two years, the divorce can move more quickly. According to the site, Kate selected both the “irretrievably broken” box and the “apart for two years” box because Jon may not agree that the marriage is irretrievably broken. If that’s the case she has to wait the two years. So by checking both boxes, Kate is hedging her bets.
Other sites allege that it’s for financial reasons, that by checking the two year box, Jon wouldn’t have access to any of her assets earned during that time.
Ultimately, she would have to prove to the judge when she considered herself separate from Jon.
Twin girls for Parker and Broderick!
The twin daughters of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick were born via surrogate Modnay in Martins Ferry, Ohio.
“Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are delighted to announce the healthy arrival of their two daughters at 3:58 PM on June 22 in Ohio. Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick weighed 5 lbs, 11 oz and Tabitha Hodge Broderick weighed 6 pounds. Both Hodge and Elwell are family names on Parker’s side. The babies are doing beautifully and the entire family is over the moon,” said a rep for the couple
Security at the hospital is reportedly very tight as perhaps well it should be. Two police chiefs are facing possible charges for breaking into the surrogate’s home earlier this summer in order to get dirt to sell to tabloids (the police, of course, deny the charges). Additional guards have been brought in on the celeb couple’s dime.
Parker and hubby Matthew have a 6-year-old son, James Wilkie.
Buffy takes on Edward Cullen
As a looooongtime Buffy fan (who chooses to block out vast swathes of season 7), I get a kick out of this Buffy-Twilight remix as Edward Cullen meets the ultimate feminist icon in the vampire genre. Let’s just say Edward doesn’t do quite as well against the Slayer as James:
Actor Jesse Eisenberg a Nick Jonas clone?
I think Nick Jonas has a not-so-secret twin. Actor Jesse Eisenberg (at left) is regularly mobbed by screaming tweens who’ve mistaken him for the Jonas Brother.
He starred in “Adventureland” but claims he’s not famous enough for his own celebrity sightings, but he looks enough like Nick to get asked for his autograph.
“I get recognized as a Jonas Brother all the time. I went to a funeral and this girl ran up to me out of breath. She lives across the street from the cemetery and she was hyperventilating because she thought I was a Jonas Brother,” said Eisenberg, who’s also a pretty good ringer for Andy Samberg.
“Someone thought I was a Jonas Brother on a plane coming from New York to L.A. – I don’t know their names so I’m sure it’s the Jewish-looking one!
“What would be a good idea is signing their names for an autograph. It would be subtle revenge although they’d be happy because it’s a better autograph than mine!”
