Jon Favreau Turns Down “Iron Man 3″

A report from the lads at New York Magazine have confirmed that “Iron Man” director Jon Favreau has turned down the offer to direct the third Robert Downey Jr. outing. Complications from both Marvel and Favreau (stemming from “Iron Man 2″) has caused the director to leave the project.

A whole collection of possible theories are mentioned in the report as to why Favreau bailed on the billion dollar franchise, but it seems that after the less-than-robust reception of the second film and a wholly obscured vision for the character of Tony Stark from the upcoming “Avengers” flick, Favreau is not keen to play along with Marvel.

Can “Iron Man 3″ recover without it’s touted director? I don’t know, both films weren’t that good anyway, so who gives a shit!
