Ryan O’Neal’s regrets
Ryan O’Neal is still discussing the cancer that killed his longtime lover, Farrah Fawcett, and apparently having some regret and survivor’s guilt.
“I’d love to do it over. I would have been much kinder, more understanding, more mature. I’d lose some of the savagery. I don’t know how she got cancer – maybe some of it was me,” O’Neal told Vanity Fair. Yeah, Ryan, being mean causes cancer. That’s why Hollywood types I hate are dropping like flies.
He and Fawcett dated for 20 years and had a son together (Redmond, 24, now in rehab). They split in 1998, but then got back together in 2001 after O’Neal discovered he had leukemia.
Speaking about the split, O’Neal said: “I believe Farrah was going through some kind of life change. I didn’t have a change of life. I was always a jerk. But they’re hard work, these divas. I was sick of it, and I was unappreciated.
“I just don’t think she liked me very much. So I excused myself. We pulled apart, but we never popped loose.”
Mary Lynn Rajskub gets hitched
Mary Lynn Rajskub joined the litany of Aug. 1 brides. The “24″ star married in Las Vegas this weekend.
The actress, who plays computer guru Chloe O’Brien, tied the knot with her personal trainer boyfriend Matthew Rolph Saturday at the city’s Planet Hollywood resort.
Rajskub (who hopefully traded her name in for something I can spell more easily) walked down the aisle accompanied by the couple’s 12-month-old son, Valentine, to Elvis Presley’s song “A Little Less Conversation,”
“We didn’t know that getting married at a casino in Vegas with Elvis could be so romantic! Our wedding was beautiful, spontaneous and intimate,” she told Us Weekly.
The guest list was small (about 20 people) and included Rob McElhenny of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and his wife and co-star Kaitlin Olson.
Rajskub is currently filming the eighth season of “24″ and said there are changes ahead for her character at the Counter Terrorism Unit.
“Everything’s changed at CTU and my bosses are looking at me like I’m not doing it right. But then something happens in the story where I think I know some information which pits me at odds with my bosses,” she said.
Stephenie Meyer faces more plagiarism accusations
File this under “I don’t think so,” but Twilight author Stephenie Meyer is denying accusations she stole the plot for her fourth novel “Breaking Dawn” from another author (who the hell wants credit for that crap?).
Author Jordan Scott sent a cease and desist letter to Meyer’s publisher and claims the best-selling novelist plagiarized aspects of her 2006 fantasy book “The Nocturne.”
According to Scott, Meyer stole specific pivotal scenes from her novel and used strikingly similar dialogue in “Breaking Dawn,” the fourth and hands down the worst book in the mega-hit Twilight series.
A spokesperson for Meyer released a statement to the press saying Scott’s accusations are entirely unfounded.
“The claim that Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer somehow infringes on an alleged book by someone named Jordan Scott is completely without merit,” the representative told TMZ.com.
Kelly Rutherford’s custody suit settled
Kelly Rutherford’s down and dirty custody battle is over. For now.
The “Gossip Girl” star filed for divorce from hubbie Daniel Giersch while pregnant with their second child back in December 2008.
Rutherford and Giersch had a heated battle over custody that nearly kept Rutherford from filming scenes for “Gossip Girl.”
However, settlement documents have been filed with the court. Under the terms, both Rutherford and Giersch will temporarily relocate from California to New York while she films “Gossip Girl,” from July 30 through April 5.
She will live in New York City and he’ll live in the Hamptons. Neither party can travel outside of New York or California without the agreement of the other.
Both parents, thank God and the California justice system, will attend co-parenting counseling sessions.
They will share joint legal and physical custody of the two kids.
Paula Abdul tweets her way off ‘American Idol’
FOX hasn’t made it official (as if hiring Kara Dioguardi last season wasn’t a big old sign on the door), but Paula Abdul has announced on her Twitter page that she is leaving “American Idol.”
According to her tweets, she’s leaving “with sadness in my heart.” She says she’ll “miss nurturing all the new talent,but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon.”
She also thanked her fans for “the undying support and enormous love” they’ve showered on her.
I’m betting that Dioguardi is preparing her vapid responses as we speak. Let’s hope her songwriting for next season either disappears or improves.
‘I Sell the Dead’ trailer
I love me some Dominic Monaghan (Lost and Lord of the Rings – it’s a geek’s wet dream) and the trailer for his new movie, “I Sell the Dead,” is up. The movie is about two of the craftiest grave robbers in town. Nineteenth century justice has caught up with them and with only a few hours to go before his date with the guillotine, body-snatcher Arthur Blake (Monaghan) tells his life story to the peculiar Father Francis Duffy, played by another favorite of mine, Ron Perlman.

‘Slumdog’ couple make it official
Love blossomed on set for “Slumdog Millionaire” actors Dev Patel, 19, and Freida Pinto, 24, and at last the couple have made their first public appearance.
Pinto split with her longtime boyfriend shortly before the Oscars, and he cited her costar as a reason. And just weeks ago the two ran away from each other and photographers when they were spotted together in New York.
But they were arm-in-arm Sunday night in London at a special screening of the film that made them famous, so apparently it’s official.
Jeff Bridges pimps ‘Tron Legacy’
Jeff Bridges is coming back to “Tron” and this time it’s going to be sweet, sweet for the eyes, that is.
The actor is starring in “Tron Legacy,” the sequel to the 1980s cult classic. Bridges says fans won’t be disappointed by the special effects.
“It’s advanced. It’s more advanced, you know? Back in those days we had no personal computers, no internet. And of course today we have all that. It was cutting edge back in those days, and this new ‘Tron’ is going to be cutting edge for today,” said Bridges.
“There’s a lot more eye candy than the first one, it’s going to be just wonderful to see all of these effects and everything. ”
Despite the techno-friendly theme, Bridges doesn’t think the film overuses computer-generated imagery or other digital effects.
“Funnier enough, we have a lot more practical sets in this version. There is a lot of blue screen and that sort of thing, but there’s also practical sets. The idea is to the audience be able to tell which is CGI and which is the real set,” he said.
“I think Joe Kosinski the director did a wonderful job of building actual practical sets and then using live action. There’s a lot of wonderful athletes that were involved in our movie doing these great stunts. It’s not just a cartoon person doing it, it’s real people and that gives it a different kind of quality than other 3-D, CGI movies.”
Eric Bana doesn’t need no stinkin’ gym
Eric Bana is hot, but he doesn’t earn his hot in the gym.
The “Time Traveler’s Wife” actor doesn’t worry about getting a perfect body because he would rather spend his free time enjoying himself.
“Abs are for people with no friends. I don’t do the ab thing. I’ve even had them once, actually, for a film, and they were always covered up. I just said to myself, ‘Well, I’ll just never do that again.’ That was a waste of time. There’s so much more to enjoy in life,” said Bana.
In his latest movie, Bana plays a librarian who involuntarily travels through time and Bana had to appear naked several times. The Aussie actor said he only did it because he was told it was scientifically accurate.
“The movie’s very romantic. Henry’s just a guy who’s in love and I think that’s a masculine thing,” said Bana. “We had a time travelling expert on the set who said that for a fact if Henry were to time travel he would be naked. We just had to take his word for it.”
Lindsay Lohan slams Sam’s new show
If Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson weren’t on the outs before, they are now. The actress had dubbed Ronson’s new reality TV show “dumb”.
Reports say Lohan was furious when Ronson asked her to appear in the new show, which will follow her jet-setting life as a celebrity DJ.
An insider claims Lohan told her ex (for now anyway): “A show about your life? I’m trying to get my career back on track and you want me to appear on your dumb reality show?”
Lohan is be worried the program would “paint her in a bad light”.
Lohan hasn’t had much work and has been relying on paid partying for the most part, so rumor is she’s having financial troubles after struggling to land a major film part for some time.
She has faced criticism for her constant partying, substance abuse and tumultuous love life.
Shaq slams David Beckham
Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal is taking a shot at David Beckham. The soccer star refused to compete on Shaq’s new reality TV show.
O’Neal has been trying to land a battle with Beckham on his “Shaq Vs” program, which will see him take on his rival sporting peers at their own game.
It’s no small potatoes. Shaq will swim against Olympic athlete Michael Phelps, a boxing against former world champion Oscar De La Hoya and play a tennis game against Serena Williams.
Last month, Shaq taunted the soccer star in a series of posts on his Twitter.com page: “Dear David Beckham. I know you have heard about my Shaq Vs show, anyway u will never score a goal on me. I challenge you, lil’ man. David Beckham, I know you hear me. Don’t be scared, don’t make me call u out. Don’t make me Tweet to two million people that yur scared of Shaq.”
Even after Beckham officially rejected the offer, Shaq kept it up: “Official, today is David Beckham is scared of Shaq day, he should b (sic) scared, he can never score a goal on me.”
Robert Pattinson’s people not impressing the PD
The ladies may love Robert Pattinson but the New York Police Department aren’t big fans. NYPD officials have criticized Pattinson’s security team. Of course, maybe they’re just jealous, the boys claims the “Twilight” actor’s bodyguards are incapable of handling the mobs he’s attracted while filming in the city.
Pattinson has been in the Big Apple shooting, “Remember Me,” and was recently struck by a taxi while trying to escape a group of over-excited devotees.
A police source told IrishCentral.com, “Enough is enough. His security people aren’t up to the task of keeping him safe, and they have no idea how to deal with the crowds this guy attracts.”
Pattinson himself is getting frustrated. Last month, he asked his fans to treat him with more respect and keep their distance. He admitted he’s scared to go outside because of the screaming girls who follow his every move.
He told reporters, “People ambush me and try and find out what hotel I’m staying at, as well as wanting to touch my hair. Everyone just screams and screams. It feels surreal.”
Ryan O’Neal is gross
Ryan O’Neal and daughter Tatum O’Neal are weird. Very weird. The mourning actor admitted he made a pass at Tatum during Farrah Fawcett’s funeral (there are so many things wrong with that sentence). He told Vanity Fair for their September issue:
“I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me. I said to her, ‘You have a drink on you? You have a car?’ She said, ‘Daddy, it’s me – Tatum!’ I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it’s my daughter. It’s so sick.”
But Tatum wasn’t even offended by her lecherous father:
“That’s our relationship in a nutshell. You make of it what you will. It had been a few years since we’d seen each other, and he was always a ladies’ man, a bon vivant.”
Gerard Butler loves the boobs
I’m willing to put aside my feminism for Gerard Butler. The actor said he wants to compliment women he finds attractive but says it is not acceptable in today’s society.
“We’ve taken something as simple as sexual attraction, something that’s in our DNA, that’s basic to society, and turned it into something complicated. We’ve made the rules we must abide by that make it difficult to connect with each other,” said the “Ugly Truth” star.
“If a woman has great breasts, I’d love to tell her so. But in polite society, you can’t do that. Which is a shame.”
Butler is attracted to all different kinds of women, something that can get him into trouble.
“My problem with women is I love them all, really. If I see a woman who is sweet and innocent, I fall in love with her, I want to hug her and take care of her and all that lovely stuff. “Then I see this sex-kitten type walking past me and I think, ‘Wow! That’s my woman!’ I appreciate women for all sorts of reasons and it can get complicated.”
Price of beauty for Jessica Simpson: $25,000
It’s pricey to make Jessica Simpson pretty. The singer/actress is reportedly spending $25,000 for personal stylists for each episode of her new reality show.
“The Price of Beauty” involves Simpson traveling the world to find out what beauty is and she plans to look good while doing it.
“To get her camera-ready each episode will cost $25,000,” said a source. “She insists on using her own hair, make-up and fashion stylists, who are more expensive than J.Lo’s.”
The series will air on VH1 and the source claims they’re furious with the budget.
An official rep, however, refused to comment.
Simpson’s spokesperson claims there is no controversy.
Rep Cindi Berger said: “A budget was approved when the deal was made. All parties were satisfied.”
Leona Lewis looking to leave L.A.?
Leona Lewis has seen her dreams come true, but it’s been a bit of a nightmare lately.
The “Bleeding Love” singer shot to fame after winning the 2006 season of “The X Factor” in the UK and now she is considering abandoning her celebrity lifestyle in Los Angeles, according to sources. She’s missing her “normal” life in London with her boyfriend Lou Al-Chamaa.
An insider said: “Career-wise, Leona’s dreams have come true. But she doesn’t really seem to socialise in Los Angeles because she misses Lou so much. I think she wasn’t quite aware how different her life would become.
“Leona is torn because she loves being a singer but Lou is the love of her life. Sometimes I think she would like to fly back to London and never go to another red-carpet event again.
“I guess Leona would be happier eating a home-cooked meal with Lou in rainy old London than she’ll ever be in the glitzy bars in Los Angeles.”
Lewis is set to leave L.A. for a 14-month world tour after she wraps up work on her second album later this year.
The source added: “Lou and Leona look at other couples who manage to keep their relationship alive even though they sometimes live apart. They know they’re a strong enough couple to make it work.”
Jude Law is no deadbeat dad, says baby mama
Judd Law is having some baby mama drama. The mother of the actor’s fourth kid is nixing reports that he abandoned her.
Samantha Burke is seven months pregnant with a baby girl after dating Law while he was filming “Sherlock Holmes” in New York earlier this year.
New reports allege that after he found out Burke was expecting, Law refused. Media reports have Burke’s mother reportedly going on the record to voice her concerns.
Lea Burke was quoted as saying, “Samantha has no idea what is going on. She is very stressed out and upset. This was never planned and Jude didn’t want the baby. It was a total accident. This was no way planned. Hell, no.
“She was in shock when she found out she was pregnant and terrified to tell him. It would be nice if the father was around but that’s not going to happen because of his job and Samantha knows that.
“Samantha is staying positive and hoping Jude will get in touch. She really wanted to get hold of him, but he hasn’t called once.”
Her 24-year-old daughter, however, claims the quotes were taken out of context and spoke for the first time since news of her pregnancy broke, saying, “It’s a hard time.”
She stood with her spokesperson outside her home to confirm Law is “committed to the health and well being of this child”.
“Samantha and her mother would like to be clear that comments attributed to her mother and media stories reported in the last 24 hours regarding Jude’s contact with Samantha and his involvement were taken out of context,” said her spokesperson.
“Samantha, her mom and her family can confirm Jude has been responsive and supportive through the relationship and pregnancy and know that he will remain so as a father once baby Sophia is born.
“Jude and Samantha remain committed to the health and well being of this child and appreciate your honoring her privacy during this special time.”
Britain’s The Sun newspaper also reports Law is terrified intimate photos taken during the pair’s fling will be leaked to the press and has warned his ex and mother of his three other children, Sadie Frost, about the risk.
Paris Hilton back in Reinhardt’s arms?
Paris Hilton and her ex Doug Reinhardt have reconciled, according to new reports. She split from the reality star and minor league baseball player earlier this summer, but friends claim Hilton is the subject of recent Twitter.com posts from Reinhardt, in which he coos about his love life.
“They are definitely happy again,” said a source.
Reinhardt recently tweeted on Twitter.com, stating, “What an amazing weekend with my beautiful girlfriend. I love her so much!”

Dexter Season 4 preview
Sigh. I miss my sympathetic serial killer. Fortunately, more “Dexter” isn’t far away. Season four is set to premiere at 9 p.m. Sept. 27 on Showtime:
