Bradley Cooper blames Bale for role loss
Christian Bale is Hollywood’s whipping boy. Actor Bradley Cooper is blaming the Batman star for costing him the lead role in “The Green Lantern.”
Cooper auditioned to star in the upcoming comic book movie adaptation, but screwed up in his screen test by imitating Bale’s husky-voiced portrayal of the caped crusader.
“I couldn’t not do Christian Bale’s Batman when I was doing the audition. I don’t know what it was. You put a mask on, and I actually said, ‘I’m Batman.’ When I walked back and saw (the playback) I thought, ‘Oh my God!’ It looked like a Saturday Night Live sketch. I was like, ‘Oh, I’m not getting this!’” Cooper said. The role ultimately went to Ryan Reynolds.
Alicia Silverstone eyes author career
Actress Alicia Silverstone is ready for a new career, but not until she has a kid.
The actress said she has great ideas for kids books, but fears parents won’t go for her books until she’s a mother herself.
Silverstone is married to musician Chris Jarecki and says she has had “baby fever” since she was two and the couple is considering starting a family in 2010.
“I think I might be ready maybe next year,” said Silverstone.
She told Health magazine that she plans to start writing as soon as motherhood kicks in: “I have a lot to say about kids, but I don’t think anyone wants to hear that when you don’t have them.
“So I want to have kids and go through, ideally, a whole natural childbirth experience.
Paris Hilton papers Reinhardt’s house with her photos
As if Paris Hilton wasn’t self-absorbed enough, the heiress has hung life-sized pictures of herself in her boyfriend’s house.
Hilton is in Vancouver, Canada, to wreck one of my favorite shows film a guest appearance in “Supernatural” and left behind her photos for Doug Reinhardt, who she recently reconciled with following a two-month split.
“Before jet-setting to Vancouver, Paris had her team pay a visit to Doug’s house, bringing over life-size photos of herself to hang throughout the mansion,” said a source. She didn’t ask for permission before lining the walls with photos.
“Seriously, there were only a few photos that survived Paris’ redecorating.”
The couple recently returned from a romantic holiday to Wadigi Island in Fiji after “The Hills” star decided to surprise his lover in a bid to win her back.
“He has been so generous and sweet, and has really impressed her with his romantic ways. She loves being treated like a princess… she can feel how deeply in love he is with her, and she’s having a blast,” added a source.
McCartney says drugs made Lennon dislike him
John Lennon only talked “crap” about his songwriting pal when he was high, according to Sir Paul McCartney.
The 67-year-old former Beatle denies the widely held belief Lennon didn’t like him, insisting Lennon’s drug habit made him say things he didn’t mean.
“John was on drugs, wasn’t he? This is the trouble with history, with journalism. John said so much crap that he later said he hadn’t meant. It’s bullshit. We were there. We all enjoyed it. I never really criticized John. I’m not that critical. It’s a question of personalities,” said McCartney.
“John’s was more abrasive than mine and that was good for his corner of the square that made up The Beatles. If we’d had two people like that, forget it, I don’t think it would have worked.
“Whatever bad things John said about me, he would also slip his glasses down to the end of his nose and say, ‘I love you.’ That’s really what I hold on to. That’s what I believe. The rest is showing off.”
After the band broke up, Lennon, who was killed in 1980,complained about McCartney’s lack of commitment to the group in a series of interviews.
But McCartney insists Lennon wasn’t as tough as people thought he was.
“The image of John is seriously flawed because he was not the hard, mad man that people think he was. He was a very soft-centered guy and we had a lot more in common than people think. His favorite song when we were kids was ‘Little White Lies’, which was very sentimental. It was a smoochy old standard that his mum liked.”
No wedding bells for Kelly and Jeter
Actress Minka Kelly isn’t planning to be a fall bride. The “Friday Night Lights” star is dating baseball star Derek Jeter, but denies they plan to wed.
According to the New York Post, the couple, who have been dating for a year, told close friends and family to “save the date” for their nuptials this autumn.
“Derek and Minka are secretly engaged. The wedding is being planned and will take place after baseball season is over.”
A spokesperson for the actress, however, said, “There is no fall wedding planned to Derek Jeter.”
Kirsten Dunst finds a young lover
Kirsten Dunst has a boy toy! The “Spiderman” actress was spotted with her younger brother Christian’s friends in Mississippi last weekend and one young man caught her eye.
“Kirsten met a cute, young, guy at a bar in Oxford, Mississippi, and they partied together and had a hot little hook-up. She invited him back to her hotel and even took him out for breakfast in the morning. She was having a good time, and she likes younger guys,” said a source.
Dunst was down south on vacation and has been spending time with her brother. Last week she threw him a party at Los Angeles nightspot Madame Royale.
A source said: “She came alone without a date and Christian brought several of his buddies. Kirsten and Christian are very close, and they get along with each other’s friends. Everyone was drinking vodka and partying at their table. Kirsten looked like she was having a great night, laughing and dancing with all the young dudes.”
Dakota Fanning set to rock out
Dakota Fanning is ready to rock out. The 15-year-old will share the screen not once but twice with Kristen Stewart. In addition to playing Jane the vampire in “New Moon,” Fanning will appear in the Joan Jett biopic “The Runaways” and their co-star Scout Taylor-Compton insists their hard work in mastering musicianship has paid off.
“We performed for like eight hours straight. It was crazy. Basically, I felt like I was in a band and I miss it. I miss rehearsal,” said Taylor-Compton, who plays guitarist Lita Ford in the movie. Fanning plays Cheri Currie and Stewart portrays Jett.
“All of us had something to do. Dakota will blow your mind. She’s amazing in it and so is Kristen. We learned a lot of songs. We did a lot of performances.”
Taylor-Compton said that though she didn’t get to meet her on-screen alter ego, she loved having the chance to rub shoulders with the real-life members of The Runaways.
“I didn’t meet Lita but Joan Jett was always there during band practice, during the filming. She was always there, always hanging out with us. It was great. And Cheri Currie was there.”
Isaiah Washington being evicted
Actor Isaiah Washington is paying for his “Grey’s Anatomy” sins several times over. He lost his job in 2007 after making a homophobic slur during an onset fight with a castmate and now he’s facing eviction.
According to court documents filed by by Sandalwood Properties in Santa Monica, on Tuesday, Washington and his wife have fallen behind on their $20,000 a month payments and now owes more than $100,000 in unpaid rent.
Washington’s landlord claims rent has not been paid on the Venice-area home since November.
Mischa Barton blames meltdown on her teeth
Mischa Barton has spoken out for the first time since she was hospitalized. She claims her meltdown was the result of a “perfect storm” of emotional traumas.
Barton was placed on involuntary psychiatric hold in July after calling cops to her Hollywood home.
Barton claims a “terrible” surgery on her wisdom teeth sent her to rock bottom, just weeks before she began filming “The Beautiful Life.” Yes, sweetie, and I weight the amount listed on my driver’s license.
Because she was forbidden to take painkillers while she worked, the actress was forced to cope with the after-effects of the operation without proper medication.
“I went through a tough spot where everything compounded on me, and it was like a perfect storm, like everything was happening to me at once,” said Barton.
She said the stress led to depression and the emotional turmoil of July 16. However, she denies she suffered a mental breakdown, but admits things got “pretty bad”.
“I was down in the dumps about everything there for a while,” she said. “Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom about things and have to get the most stressed out just to feel better again. I got completely stressed out and couldn’t handle everything, and now I feel really in control.”
She denies it was a mental breakdown, but Barton admits the ordeal “was pretty bad.” Still, she claims it was also blown out of proportion.
“The funny thing is, if all this happened in New York, no one would care. New York lets you be who you are, and people aren’t as judgmental. I’m so glad to be back here.”
Gosselin kids head back to school
Jon and Kate Gosselin may be slowly ripping apart their family, but life must go on. The Gosselin kids headed back to school this week.
“They’re all jazzed up about riding on the bus,” Jon said. “I’m happy too, because now I don’t have to drive them to school.”
At the bus pickup point in a local parking lot Thursday, the warring couple arrived in separate cars around 7 a.m. Twins Cara and Mady, 9, rode with their mom, then ran over and hugged their father before boarding. Kate walked onto the bus with them, stayed a couple minutes, then hopped off while her ex stayed in the parking lot. He paced and appeared to be texting on his phone.
Today the sextuplets will start junior kindergarten, which is only three days a week.
“Next year will be kindergarten for the little kids, and it will be five days a week,” Jon said.
While the twins are “definitely” the most excited to go back to class, said Jon, “because we live out in the middle of nowhere and all their friends are close to school.”
The little ones, not so much.
“They use each other as a security blanket,” he says. “So as long as they’re all going, (they’re not nervous). If I would send like one, they’d probably freak out.”
Kristen Stewart terrified of fans
Not surprisingly, Kristen Stewart is scared of the Twifans.
“I’m scared. I feel like I could go out in disguise but they would still recognize my feet or the shape of my leg. They’d say, ‘Hey, she looks about right.’ And they would just bag me. It’s scary,” she said.
She’s not the only one to think disguises are a good idea. Cameron Diaz recently said she uses movie costumes to disguise herself when she wants to remain anonymous.
“I’ve enjoyed taking home some of the costumes from movie sets, in particular when I played Lotte Schwartz in ‘Being John Malkovich’. That was really fun because I had these brown contact lenses and this crazy wig and I would go shopping as Lotte. People didn’t even want to help me,” said Diaz.
“Lord of the Rings” actor Dominic Monaghan also said he wears a disguise when can’t stop and talk to fans.
“Unfortunately I have to get to places on schedule, I don’t do a huge amount of stopping. I wear little disguises so I don’t get stopped, but it’s good to feel the love, and good to know people are supportive of projects that I’m involved with,” he said.
Amy Winehouse crying in her beer over Blake
Amy Winehouse had a break down over her impending divorce from Blake Fielder-Civil, say reports.
The singer burst into tears over the end of her marriage at a North London bar. She was comforted by reality TV star David Gest and Towers of London bassist Kristian Marr as she burst into tears over her troubled relationship with Blake this week.
“A few drinks did nothing to cheer her up and she ended up sobbing her eyes out in the pub. She was inconsolable,” said a source.
“David put his arm around her to try and soothe her. But she was still crying when they decided to call it a night and get her taxi.”
Over the weekend, Fielder-Civil, who is currently in rehab said he still loves Winehouse.
“Maybe this time we can do everything properly and not mess it up. She is looking beautiful and healthy now and it reminds me of the old Amy. She has been wearing my engagement ring and it meant an awful lot,” he said.
Winehouse’s father, Mitch, is opposed to a reconciliation. He blames her soon-to-be-ex for getting her hooked on heroin and crack cocaine.
“Mitch told a pal, ‘Seven months of good work is all unraveling because of Blake. What is he doing to her? Why can’t he leave her alone?’” said a source.
Her mother, Janis, is against the reunion, too.
“Janis is in poor health and the thought of Amy getting back together with Blake has made her very ill. She lost her own mother Esther only last month, so the stress is talking its toll. She can hardly walk,” the source added. “She’s begging Amy not to see Blake again after all the progress she has made this year.”
Fielder-Civil started divorce proceedings while serving a 27-month sentence for perverting the course of justice and grievous bodily harm. He claimed infidelity after Amy was pictured with other men while on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia.
Their separation is due to be legally finalized on Aug. 28.
Oprah Winfrey crushes on Jay-Z
Oprah Winfrey is crazy for Jay-Z. The talk show host isn’t into the man for his music, she thinks he smells good.
“Jay-Z is my new best friend. He was so charming and delightful – and he smelled so good. It’s the kind of thing where you hug a guy and the scent is sort of buried in them. When we went to the second location I could still smell him on me. It was like, ‘Oh my, this is wonderful!’” she told O-Radio.
But she might be in on the look out for a new man. The National Enquirer reports that after 23 years together, Oprah and Stedman Graham have called it quits. According to the tabloid, Graham officially moved out of Oprah’s Chicago home after the 55-year-old daytime diva’s decision to take Gayle King on a 14-day vacation cruise, instead of him.
According to National Enquirer magazine, he told Oprah he was “tired of being disrespected.”
Samantha Burke forgotten by Jude Law
Poor Samantha Burke. Not only is she not an expensive lay, she’s also forgettable for the weeks thereafter. According to sources, Jude Law doesn’t even remember the mother-to-be of his fourth child.
A friend of Burke, who is pregnant with the star’s baby following a brief romance last year, claims the model hasn’t seen or been in personal contact with the Law since he left New York.
“She met him at a club in New York. He was sick, so she kept going to his hotel over the course of a week to take care of him,” the friend told E! Online.
“But Jude didn’t even remember her. She hasn’t seen him since New York. They’ve only been in contact through their lawyers.”
The friend also said she believes Burke “crazy” to go through with the pregnancy.
Burke denied she’s a golddigger on her blog earlier this month.
“I can’t tell you how far from a gold digger I am. I’ve never dated a rich man in my life. I’ve always wondered how girl friends of mine could even ask their boyfriends to buy them clothes.
“When I found out I was pregnant, I was scared. I didn’t jump for joy because I ‘hit the jackpot’- I cried.”
Burke is reportedly requested a little less than $10,000 per month for their daughter, Sophia, who is due in October.
Mila Kunis calls Macaulay her ‘rock’
Actress Mila Kunis is calling her boyfriend Macaulay Culkin her “steady rock”.
Kunis has been dating the “Home Alone” actor since 2002 but the two are rarely seen out together and often refuse to discuss their romance with the media.
But Kunis said Culkin plays a huge role in her life because they’ve grown up together, surviving several difficult periods and the trappings of Hollywood at one another’s side.
“I don’t know if I met him at 27 if it would have been a different relationship. We grew up together. You find a steady rock in your life and that’s all you need. We have our ups and downs, but work through them,” she told Women’s Health magazine.
LAPD investigating Dane-Gayheart sex tape
Eric Dane and wife Rebecca Gayhearts little naked romp with a teen beauty queen has caught the eye of Los Angeles authorities. They are reviewing the tape, looking for any “criminal activity” as part of an official investigation.
Video of the couple frolicking nude with former Miss Teen USA Kari Ann Peniche hit the internet on Monday.
In the clip, the seemingly drunk trio lounge on a bed, passing a camera around and dreaming up porn names for each other.
An anonymous source gave the Los Angeles Police Department a copy of Dane’s tape last month.
A statement released by the LAPD said, “On July 30, 2009, an unnamed source provided the LAPD’s Detective Support and Vice Division with a copy of a DVD. According to the source, the DVD contained images that could link celebrities engaging in illegal activity.
“The LAPD was in the process of reviewing the voluminous files contained on the DVD when the story was leaked to the media. No determination has been made as to whether or not the DVD contained any information that could be used for a criminal investigation. Some of the information contained on the DVD included archived articles and photographs of porn stars and formally convicted madams, which could readily be found over the internet.
“The LAPD will continue to review the DVD for potential evidence. Therefore, additional information about the contents of the DVD will be treated as confidential.”
Meanwhile, a lawyer for the Grey’s Anatomy actor has threatened to sue anyone who publishes the “private, confidential tape,” adding, “from what I’ve seen, it’s a naked tape, not a sex tape.”
Jason Schwartzman weds
Jason Schwartzman has married his girlfriend Brady Cunningham.
The “Funny People” actor and the eco-friendly fashion designer had a low-key wedding ceremony at their San Fernando Valley home last month.
“It was a very small ceremony with many family members and close friends,” said Schwartzman.
The couple had dated for three years before Schwartzman proposed earlier this year.
Before he started acting, Schwartzman was a drummer and songwriter for the band Phantom Planet, and still composes music for films.
Christian Bale’s movie disappearing act
Christian Bale has been “missing in action” on the set of his new movie.
He’s filming “The Fighter” in Massachusetts with Mark Wahlberg and Amy Adams and the method actor insists on “getting into character” by refusing to be seen on set.
“You only see him when it’s time for his scenes. Other than that, no one has any idea where he is. He just goes missing,” a source told E!.
Bale is determined to accurately portray former crack addict Dicky Eklund in the movie, which follows the life of boxer “Irish” Mickey Ward.
The source explained: “Christian has lost almost as much weight as he did for ‘The Machinist’. He is so gaunt. They have even thinned his hair, he just looks sickly.”
When filming “The Machinist,” Bale lived on just a can of tuna and an apple a day and lost 60 lbs. to play a paranoid insomniac.
Bale has said he didn’t plan to go to those extremes again, but admits he thrived on the “mental challenges” it presented.
“I wouldn’t want to take it to that extreme again. But it was necessary to lose weight for that role – not as much as I did – but it was a challenge mentally to see if I was capable of doing such a thing.
“I know that I can now, so there would need to be a certain gimmick if I was to do that all over again. But I do like the notion of seeing how far you can push yourself so I’m very happy that I did that. Everybody told me that I was risking my health the first time around, so doing it twice? I’m probably being an idiot.”
Jeff Goldblum is a pervy old man
Jeff Goldblum is a cradle robber. The actor is dating a woman 35 years his junior.
Goldblum, 56, was seen making out with “Lost” actress Tania Raymonde, 21, during a meal at Los Angeles’ Toast Bakery Cafe.
“Despite the age-gap, Jeff and Tania appeared smitten with one another and couldn’t keep their hands to themselves,” said a witness.
Goldblum has previously been married to Patricia Gaul, who he was wed to for six years from 1980 to 1986, and actress Geena Davis from 1987 to 1990.
Raymonde played Alex Rousseau in “Lost” and also appeared in the 2009 season finale of Goldblum’s show, “Law and Order: Criminal Intent.”
Jon Gosselin looking to jump ship from TLC show?
Jon Gosselin has been a naughty boy. Again. This time reality star is pissing off his network, TLC.
TMZ reports Jon is in talks with Endemol, a major production company, to appear in a show called “Divorced Dad’s Club,” which will chronicle the lives of famous divorced fathers.
Producers have talked to Jon, but he’s concerned about his TLC contract. That may not be much of a concern for long because TLC is not happy with his conduct lately on “Jon & Kate Plus 8.”
According to TMZ, high ups fired off a letter to him, claiming he was in violation of the morals clause of his contract, partly because he’s been seen going in and out of bars and drinking.
Celebuwhore Kate reportedly has the kids more than 60 percent of the time as Jon revisits his lost use, supposedly because she’s concerned for the children’s welfare, emotionally and financially (except for that whole exploitation thing, she’s not real worried about that).
The money the family made last season of the show reportedly went into a joint account. Jon and Kate each took a cut, but Jon spent his share. Kate put a big chunk of the money into a college fund for the kids, so not much was left over (that sounds remarkably like a Kate-friendly source who overlooked her spa days, trips across country and the like).
For this season, sources say a judge gave Kate control of the family finances because she was deemed the more responsible party. Jon supposedly has limited access to the account and Kate’s people say Jon is making money on the side by selling pictures and stories of him and the kids to the tabloids.
