Kelsey Grammer’s wake up call
Kelsey Grammer says his heart attack made him realize how precious his family is.
The former actor suffered the potentially fatal myocardial infarction last year and calls it a wake-up call to figure out what’s really important in life and not let work get in the way.
“Honestly, I’ve never felt better. I’m always concerned about going to work now because I’ve established such a connection with my family that’s different than it used to be when I was on ‘Frasier,’” he said.
“I started the family then and in the last five years I’ve spent a lot of time with them. So I find that more precious than I did before?it’s very important that the work not really intrude on that. So it’s a weird balancing act again.”
His eldest daughter Spencer, 25, has an acting career of her own and is now starring in TV show “Greek,” which his made Grammer even more proud.
“I always knew she’d do well. I want people to follow their own dreams and figure out their own lives. If she’d had been an astronaut I would’ve been happy,” said Grammer.
Redmond O’Neal promises to head to rehab for Farrah
In a tribute to his mother, Farrah Fawcett’s son Redmond O’Neal is trying to quit drugs for good. He’s planning to enroll in a substance abuse program as soon as he’s released from prison.
O’Neal, 24, is serving time at a California detention center, where he is undergoing intense treatment to kick his drug habit.
Fawcett’s best friend Alana Stewart said he is “doing well” and is on track to complete his rehab stint behind bars, which stems from an April arrest for drug possession.
He plans to go straight from his cell to another rehab facility once he’s freed.
“He’s doing amazingly well. Ryan goes to visit him every weekend and he’s really doing well. He’s in a rehab part of the jail and he’s going to go to a regular rehab after this,” said Stewart.
“He feels his mother’s with him; he feels her presence very strongly and he promised her in a phone call just before she died that he would never do drugs again, so I hope that he’s able to keep that promise,” added Stewart.
“He’s a very wonderful little man, he just had a drug problem.”
Fawcett lost her three-year struggle with anal cancer at age 62.
Mischa Barton on the road to another breakdown?
Mischa Barton is on “the verge of another breakdown,” according to unnamed friends.
“The Beautiful Life” actress was placed under involuntary psychiatric hold at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last month and now friends fear she has returned to work too quickly.
“There still are issues. Mischa’s just not herself at all. I think she’s gone back to work too soon,” said one source.
Another friend revealed to the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper: “She is on the verge of another breakdown – one I think could be even more serious than the last one. She cries for no reason.”
Barton headed to the set of “The Beautiful Life” just two days after being released from hospital.
According to reports, she was using drugs and alcohol to cope with money troubles and a tough love life.
Katie Holmes nearly hurt on movie set
Scientology nearly lost one of its sweethearts recently. Katie Holmes narrowly avoided serious injury after a car caught fire on the set of her new movie “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.”
She was reportedly shooting a scene in the vehicle when the battery exploded last weekend in Melbourne, Australia.
Holmes dashes from the car just before it burst into flames.
A source said: “Katie was inside a car when the vehicle’s battery exploded – it was sparking smoke and fumes before the car then caught fire.
“The exploding battery was not a part of the film.”
The film is a remake of a 1973 TV movie – Katie plays a woman who is stalked by wicked gnomes.
Before her near miss, Holmes said she was looking forward to filming.
“I’m really enjoying it. The movie is really character-driven. It’s really her journey becoming a mother. In the midst of that, there are unexpected scares,” she said.
Mischa Barton out of the hospital
Two weeks after being placed under psychiatric hold, Mischa Barton is out of the hospital and is ready to head back to work.
“I can confirm that she’s left the hospital with the intention to resume production” of her new CW show “The Beautiful Life,” her rep Craig Schneider said.
After calling the police for “medical issues,” Barton was placed under involuntary psychiatric hold at L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center July 15.
But on Friday, Ashton Kutcher, a creator of “The Beautiful Life,” said Barton was recovering and expected her back to work soon.
“I can tell you right now Mischa Barton is doing great,” Kutcher told reporters at a technology conference in Pasadena, Calif.
Production on The Beautiful Life, which stars Barton , a former model, as an art-imitating-life pill-popping supermodel, is set to begin Friday.
Mischa Barton is great, says Kutcher
Mischa Barton is “doing great,” says Ashton Kutcher, creator of her new show “The Beautiful Life.” Kutcher said she’s ready to begin filming.
The actress was hospitalized for psychiatric observation last week, after suffering a meltdown and calling cops to her Los Angeles home the night before.
Reports were circulating that production was set to go on without her, but Kutcher denies that’s true.
He announced she will soon fly to New York to join the cast of the show, about a group of models.
Speaking at a technology conference in Pasadena, California on Friday, Kutcher said, “I can tell you right now Mischa Barton is doing great.”
The actress plays Sonja Stone, a catwalk beauty addicted to pills, on “The Beautiful Life,” which is scheduled to start filming on July 31.
No coke for Mischa Barton, says her rep
Mischa Barton is denying her “medical issue” has anything to do with a three-day cocaine binge. She’s still in psychiatric lockdown, but her reps have called the rumor “preposterous”.
Barton, 23, was put on an involuntary psychiatric hold last week after cops went to her Los Angeles home.
A spokesperson has confirmed Barton received help for a “medical issue”, but has refused to comment further.
As a result of the lack of information, reports have circulated that she felt “suicidal” after three days of hard partying.
However, Barton’s rep has refuted the drug claims, telling Ok! magazine the reports are “completely preposterous”.
Barton’s mystery illness coughdrugaddictioncough has meant production of her TV series, “The Beautiful Life,” has been pushed back.
Beastie Boy Adam Yauch has cancer
The Beastie Boys have brought the rap for ages (and look much, much older than I remember them being) and sometimes it’s hard to remember they’re human.
But they are. Adam Yauch has announced he has cancer in his carotid gland (in his neck), which means surgery and chemo. It won’t affect his voice and they’ve caught it early, but still, not good news. The duo are canceling their upcoming tour dates and have postponed the planned album release. Our thoughts are with the Boys and we’re hoping for a quick recovery:
Coke binge caused Barton’s breakdown?
Reports are circulating that Mischa Barton’s recent breakdown came after a three-day cocaine binge.
The former “O.C.” actress was placed on involuntary psychiatric hold Thursday after suffering a meltdown and calling cops to her Los Angeles home the day before.
According to New York Post gossip column PageSix, friends of Barton alerted police earlier, afraid she would kill herself after three days of hard partying.
“She’s in very bad shape. She’s running out of money and can’t find love, so now she is looking for a good time to escape her misery. She is on a downward spiral. She is a mess. She is a suicidal, uninsurable mess,” said a friend.
Los Angeles police and Barton’s representative have confirmed the actress required assistance for “a medical issue”, but have yet to reveal further details.
Ashton Kutcher’s ear drama
It’s just injuries aplenty for young Hollywood lately. Ashton Kutcher is recovering from a ruptured eardrum that sent him to the hospital in the Bahamas earlier this month.
The actor was shooting scenes for his new movie, “Five Killers” in Nassau with Katherine Heigl when he complained of a severe headache.
He took a break from shooting but crew members sent him to a nearby medical center when they noticed he had a bloody ear, according to the National Enquirer.
His wife, Demi Moore, hauled ass to his bedside.
Fortunately for her, he was fine, joking around with medical staff and film assistants.
A source told the tabloid, “When Ashton saw Demi, he said cheerfully, ‘Hi, honey! I’m fine. Come join the party!’”
He was shortly allowed to fly to Georgia to finish working on Five Killers.
Kutcher refused to let his injury hold up production on the movie. The insider adds, “Ashton was a trooper. He didn’t even miss a day of filming.”
Mischa Barton kept on psychiatric hold
Police in Los Angeles were called to actress Mischa Barton’s home for “medical issues” Wednesday, according to an LAPD spokesperson.
Cops were asked to visit the former “O.C.” star’s home in Los Angeles after Barton reportedly called a non-911 number asking for help. A patrol car picked Barton up from her home and escorted her to an unknown location, according to Access Hollywood.
“We responded to her home last night on a medical issue,” Officer April Harding said. “We assisted with it. She was removed from her home.”
She’s been reportedly placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold (also known as a 5150, what Britney Spears was hauled in under back in 2008) by the Los Angeles Police Department and is currently at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The code gives authorities the power to hold her for up to 72 hours.
The hold means Barton will miss the premiere of her new movie, “Homecoming,” set for tonight in New York City.
Barton, who is set to star in this fall’s CW show “The Beautiful Life,” was previously charged with DUI and marijuana possession last year. She was sentenced by a Los Angeles court judge to 36 months probation, attend alcohol education classes and pay a fine.
LeVar Burton in car accident
Don’t worry, everyone, Geordi is just fine. Los Angeles police report actor LeVar Burton was involved in a five-car accident but wasn’t seriously hurt.
According to Detective Judy Acosta, Burton’s 2006 Mercedes was on Beverly Boulevard in West Los Angeles at about 7:40 p.m. Monday when a 74-year-old woman in a 2006 Scion turned left in front of him.
The cars collided and Burton’s vehicle then hit a parked car, according to the detective. That led to a chain reaction that damaged two other parked cars.
Both drivers complained of pain, then were examined at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and released. Nobody was ticketed.
Burton played one of my childhood crushes, Geordi LaForge, and hosted “Reading Rainbow” and must never, ever die.
Rupert Grint gets a bout of swine flu
It’s no transfiguration spell. “Harry Potter” star Rupert Grint has contracted the infamous swine flu, just a few days shy of the London premiere of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” He’s expected to be well enough to attend the Tuesday event, according to his publicist.
Grint, 20, stars as Ron Weasley. He had to call in sick to the set of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” now filming in London and set for a 2010 release, but has since recovered.
“It has just been confirmed that Rupert Grint has taken a few days out of filming due to a mild bout of swine flu,” his publicist said in a statement Saturday.
“He has now recovered and is looking forward to joining his fellow cast members at the junket and premieres this week and will then return to filming directly afterwards,” she reports, adding that filming was able to continue as scheduled in Grint’s absence.
“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” opens in U.S. theaters July 17 and looks legitimately awesome.
Farrah Fawcett gets last rites
Farrah Fawcett’s three-year battle with cancer may be near an end. The actress was re-admitted to hospital in California at the beginning of the week and, according to reports, a priest was called to Fawcett’s bedside in intensive care on Wednesday to read the devout Catholic her last rites.
“Extra” reported her 90-year-old father, James, is heading to her bedside, after being told she hasn’t got long to live.
Ryan O’Neal planned to wed her before she died (no word on whether that happened) and he’s trying to get a temporary jail release for a final goodbye for their son Redmond, who is serving time in a rehab jail on drugs charges.
Farrah Fawcett hospitalized
No word on whether Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Fawcett were able to tie the knot before the bad news this afternoon. Fawcett, who is fighting cancer, has been hospitalized in California and is undergoing urgent treatment.
According to reports, the 62-year-old actress has been admitted to a clinic near her Los Angeles home.
“Entertainment Tonight” reported that Fawcett’s partner Ryan O’Neal is trying to get a temporary jail release for their son Redmond, so he can be by the Charlie’s Angels star’s bedside.
A representative for the star said, “We are not disclosing where she is at this time. She continues to be treated for her condition.”
In a TV interview, set to air on Friday, O’Neal said Fawcett is “fighting for her life” but that he plans to marry her as soon as she’s well enough to exchange vows.
Ryan O’Neal to marry Farrah Fawcett
Farrah Fawcett is set to marry Ryan O’Neal on her deathbed.
“I’ve asked her to marry me, again, and she’s agreed,” said O’Neal. The couple have been together off and on since 1982. He has been at her side throughout her battle against cancer. She was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2006. She had surgery to remove the tumor, but a year later, she discovered the cancer had returned and despite experimental treatment in Germany found the disease had spread through her body.
In an interview to be broadcast later this week on 20/20, O’Neal told Barbara Walters about Fawcett’s deteriorating condition.
“She’s fighting for her life”,” he said.
Fawcett met O’Neal after the end of her marriage to Lee Majors in 1982. They have one son, Redmond, 24, who is currently in jail on drug charges.
Victoria Beckham goes under the knife. Again.
How much plastic surgery will this woman have? Victoria Beckham has reportedly had a third breast operation. The more alien-like half of Posh and Becks allegedly had her implants taken out of her chest, taking her from a 34DD to a 34B.
Supposedly the operation is supposed to help her restyle herself from footballer’s wife to fashion designer.
A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “Victoria has wanted her implants taken out for a while. She felt that was part of her old image – the big hair, big boobs, fake tan – and that she has moved on since those days.
“She had the operation three weeks ago and is very pleased with the results. After the procedure she came to London for business then went to France to heal properly in private.”
According to reports, the implants were put in during an operation in 1999 in London and took her from 34A to 34D. She went at it again two years later to get up to a 34DD.
Robert Pattison hit by cab
Oh noes! Robert Pattinson was hit by a cab! No worries – he’s fine. But the actor was nicked by a taxi while running from a mob of fans on the set of his new movie in New York City.
A team of five burly security guards couldn’t stop a swarm of teenage girls pouncing on Pattinson as he left the Strand bookstore during a filming break. As he darted across the street to safety, he was clipped on the hip by a yellow cab.
According to RadarOnline.com, one bodyguard checked Pattinson for injuries before screaming at the fans, “You see what you did, you almost killed him!”
Feel very, very, very guilty, girls! And, uh, do offer to kiss and make it better…
Melissa Joan Hart asks for prayers for her mother
Actress Melissa Joan Hart can’t snap her fingers and make it better, but she’s hoping for a little divine intervention. The actress is asking her fans to keep her mother in their hearts and prayers.
Hart’s mother, Paula, was in surgery for eight-hours to remove a brain tumor in May and her daughter has posted a request on her MySpace blog asking fans for help.
“All of my 6 siblings and I gathered at my house and the hospital for the entire week to be strong for each other. She is out of the woods and on her way to recovery, luckily she is a good healer and has 7 children to lend a hand in times like these,” she writes.
“Prayer is a big part of my life and it was very crucial last week for my mommy. I ask that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she fights her way to a full and wonderful recovery.”
The two have had a close relationship both personally and professionally. Paula was the executive producer on the actress’ hit show ABC’s “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.” She also produced her daughter’s recent U.S. TV movie My Fake Fiance, according to People.com.
Susan Boyle wants her pussy… cat
Before she headed to the hospital, Susan Boyle was crying for her beloved cat. She collapsed after getting second place in “Britain’s Got Talent” and allegedly verbally abusing producers at the London hotel where she was staying.
She was reportedly found wailing, “Where’s Pebbles?” until medics organized a phone call to the pet, who is being looked after by friends.
A source said: “Susan couldn’t stop crying and couldn’t calm down.
“She worked herself into such a frenzy she fainted. We called down for a doctor and the production company called their general practitioner, who arrived with a psychiatrist to asses Susan, as she’d been under extreme pressure.”
Another source added: “Susan was distraught and convinced they’d taken her cat.”
One of the show’s judges, Amanda Holden, suggested Boyle take time away from the spotlight.
“She has gone from a woman that nobody knew to worldwide fame. For anybody in the business to handle that kind of stress is an enormous amount of pressure. I think she probably crumbled under it. She will need some time to recuperate,” Holden said.
It has also been claimed the 48-year-old singer will miss the “Britain’s Got Talent” tour because of her fragile mental health.
