Obama forced to flash ID
He may be running for the most powerful job in the world, but Sen. Barack Obama still has to flash his gym ID like the rest of us.
Wanting to get a quick treadmill session in before his first public event with Sen. Hillary Clinton Friday morning, the Illinois senator headed to the newly-opened Washing Sports Club in the Columbia Heights neighborhood.
But the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee did not get far when he and his entourage of Secret Service agents tried to walk past the front desk without stopping, according to the gym’s general manager, Gonzalo Perez-Tamayo.
Perez-Tamayo told CNN the club trains its employees to adopt a strict policy of asking every member for his or her gym ID upon entry, even if they happen to be seeking the Oval Office.
The employee manning the front desk at the time, Takehia Wheeler, immediately stopped Obama as he was breezing past.
“It’s always a rush in the morning, everyone’s trying to come in quickly,” Perez-Tamayo said. “She asked him for his last name and he said ‘Obama,’ then she asked him for his first name.”
“It was very funny, she then realized who he was and said, ‘Oh I am so sorry!” Perez-Tamayo added.
For the record, Obama is a member at the Washington Sports Club gym network.
The Illinois senator did not appear frustrated by the inconvenience, Perez-Tamayo also said, but he probably realized he needs to get a gym card if he wants to avoid the mix up in the future.
“If he doesn’t want to get stopped he needs a card,” Perez-Tamayo said. “It’s the same for everybody.”
Get your hands on Aerosmith “Guitar Hero”.
Aerosmith fans can finally get their chance to step into the shoes of Steven Tyler and Joe Perry as video game developer Activision Inc released its Guitar Hero: Aerosmith game on Friday.
Dozens flocked to the Hard Rock restaurant in Times Square to see the legendary five-member rock band debut the game and try out the latest Guitar Hero addition.
Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford even brought his sons to take a look at the band’s creation.
The game features 30 of the band’s most notable hits such as “Love in an Elevator” and “Sweet Emotion.” It also includes songs from various artists Aerosmith performed and collaborated with over the years, including Run D.M.C.’s “Walk This Way” and “I Hate Myself for Loving You” by Joan Jett.
There is even a special guitar controller emblazoned with the band’s red-and-white logo for hard core fans.
The game and guitar controller bundle for Microsoft Corp’s Xbox 360, Sony Corp’s PlayStation3 and Nintendo Co Ltd’s Wii sells for $99.99, with an additional PlayStation2 version for $89.99. The game is also sold individually for each of the consoles and costs $59.99 and $49.99, respectively.
The Aerosmith game is the first Guitar Hero edition that focuses on an individual rock band. The previous three versions of the game featured various rock music genres that ranged from grunge, classic rock, metal, punk and ’80s hits.
“This is an experiment for us,” said Charles Huang, co-founder of Activision’s RedOctane unit, which oversees the Guitar Hero franchise. “There are certain artists that have so much great music like Aerosmith, Metallica and Van Halen … but we wanted to do something much bigger.”

Authorities are accusing an Ohio man of stalking the tween-fave pop queens, otherwise known as Alyson Michalka, 19, and Amanda Michalka, 17.
Rex Mettler appeared in Fairfield County Municipal Court today and pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of menacing by stalking, per the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette. Bond was set at $250,000.
Mettler was ordered to submit to a mental-health assessment and is due back in court July 3 for a preliminary hearing.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was tipped off about threats purportedly directed at the siblings and in turn contacted authorities in Lancaster, Ohio, where local police took the 42-year-old Mettler into custody yesterday at his job at a water-bottling company.
According to Sgt. Mike Peters, investigators obtained further evidence after executing a search warrant on Mettler’s residence.
Police would not comment on whether the threats specifically dealt with the sisters’ concert Friday night in Cincinnati, 100 miles south of Lancaster. Promoters said the show will go on as scheduled.
But the alleged harassment dates back to December, when Mettler began sending emails, handwritten notes and making blog posts targeting the teen singers. His identity was uncovered after Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies traced emails to his computer through his IP address.

Mary-Kate does not seem to like Spencey
Mary-Kate Olsen chatted with David Letterman on Thursday night, talking about kissing Ghandi (Ben Kingsley) in “The Wackness,” Hollywood’s bad girls, not wearing panties (she was!) and “wormy” Spencer Pratt’s bad temper.
She told Letterman that Pratt played soccer at her high school and “he does not have a good temper. He would walk off the field.”
“I don’t really get why she’d use my name to get press for her little indie film that no one’s going to see,” Pratt fired back to Usmagazine.com Friday. “She should probably focus more on not getting dressed in the dark than on me.”
But Pratt told Us that Olsen went to Campbell Hall in North Hollywood, and he attended Crossroads School in Santa Monica.
“I know I’ve made it in Hollywood when a famous troll is talking about me on Letterman,” Pratt said. Make that “Troll Doll,” you worm!
Oh, you’ve made it all right, Spencey. But for so, so many reasons other than Mary-Kate’s mention
“I forgive her, though,” Pratt said. “She’s had to go through life as the less cute twin, which must be tough.” Zing. Your turn, Mary-Kate.
